Ok, so I have completely neglected Caitlyn's potty training. I might give it another go when she's older and when it will take quicker for her to learn.
I'm disappointed with myself.

Chatted to a mother of a three year old boy in the playground today about potty training. She said he still doesn't go because he doesn't want to and is used to his nappy.
I want to get Caitlyn used to it before she's conscious of it and "doesn't want" to use it.

I'm starting to slip. I haven't been putting Caitlyn on the potty regularly. I have been sick so I've been using that as an excuse. However, I think the problem lies in the discovery of how time-consuming it is to potty train a 9 month old. Maybe there is a good reason people wait untill the child is older and takes quicker to learn - convenience for the parents.
What are you views on the matter?

When I was a baby, I did not have a sippy cup. My mother didn't even know what one was.

When my husband and I attended a pre-natal class at the hospital, we were told that dummies were bad. They only cause problems. We were listed higher risk of ear infection, speech impediments and breast confusion.

If you are a parent you have probably been drilled into not starting you baby on solids until around 6 months.
Apparently now there has been more recent research about starting solids at 4 months. The best age to start solids changes constantly so no wonder most parents can get very confused

The age that is currently recommended for potty training is around 2 or when the child shows 'readiness'. The market is making the most of this by supplying nappy pants and pull-ups for toddlers up to 5 years old.

When you are a mother of a small baby (especially if it's your first), it's easy to feel isolated and alone. Your partner/husband is at work, your family may be far away and your friends are part of the working world. You are home alone.
Once you are used to the newborn and have ventured out, you might start to crave some company and support. You might want to talk to someone who's going through the same thing. Someone with whom to discuss feeding issues, complain about lack of sleep and just laugh about flying poo

From my thorough internet and book research, most experts and parents are in agreement - older babies thrive on consistent routines.
I have been experimenting with routines almost as soon as Caitlyn was born to see which one would be best for her to sleep through the night. She has been sleeping through (by which I mean 10pm to 6pm or more) on and off since early months. However, finally she has started sleeping consistenly (knock on wood) since 8 months. It's been more than 2 full weeks
