FEEDING TIME

October 23rd 2007 12:44
The other day, TBH and I were watching TV and some woman was extolling the virtues of breastfeeding in public. We were both taken rather aback so I thought I'd write about it.

A while back I read a post here on Orble by someone who thought it was just ducky to whip out your breast in public in order to feed the little nipper. Never mind that most stores and malls now cater to breastfeeders by providing rooms that afford Mommy a little privacy. Even in the men's rooms today one sees trays or beds or whatever you want to call them so that Daddy can change a dirty diaper. Of course, Daddy can't breastfeed so that will forever remain the realm of Mommy's.

This woman had obviously never heard of a woman expressing herself, bottling the milk and taking it with her when she goes shopping with Junior. No, it has to be 'hot off the press' as it were. I'll agree that the breasts are there for first feeding a child and it is natural to do this. However I don't think it has to be done in a public place.

To use the lame old line of "it's only natural" is a crock to me. It's natural to fart. That doesn't mean I want to be exposed to it. It's natural for humans to defecate. I certainly don't want to see that. However, in India, you can stroll down the street and people defecate in full view on the side of the street. In Paris it seems it is natural to share washroom accommodations with the oppposite sex. Sorry, I don't want a woman to see me doing my business and I certainly don't want her to watch me doing mine.

Another tiresome phrase is that when Junior is hungry, he must be fed. If Junior can wait for Mommy to find a bench to sit on, he can damn well wait until she gets into a private room before she flops out her boob.

And of course, the winner is "if you're watching me, you must be some kind of pervert". Hardly. I've seen women nursing their children in public and look at them with disgust and disdain. I don't think that makes me a pervert. I think it makes me someone who recognizes the rules of civilization rather than the law of the jungle. It seems the extreme left wing of some countries 'down under' would rather have it the other way around and criticize those of us here in the West for being too prudish.

Anyone who knows me knows well that I am not a Liberal by any stretch. My children were breastfed, in front of me, at home. But if we had company over, my wife would go into a bedroom until feeding time was over. Why these people think it's alright to slap us across the face and say degrading things about how we think, I feel it is them who have the problem. They want us to turn the clock back to the days when there was rudimentary civilization and pretty much anything went.

We've progressed beyond that. Too bad they're having a hard time catching up.

TROUBLE IN MYANMAR

October 21st 2007 22:15
This has been bugging me for a while, so I thought I'd share it with you.

Buddhist monks in Myanmar (formerly Burma) have been walking the streets of this country in protest over its current government. Now, I don't know about you, but I think if you can get to the point where you piss off a bunch of Buddhists, you just have to know you're doing something very, very wrong.

Buddhists are known far and wide for literally not wanting to hurt a fly. Me, I'll hurt 'em. I hate flies. But Buddhists go out of their way to resect all God's creatures and take great pains not to hurt a single one of them. They are polar opposites of fundamentalist Muslims who want blow up everything and everybody who does not conform with their way of seeing things.

Where and when will this Myanmar protest end? As usual the useless UN won't do anything other than sit back and watch the country's leader abuse his people. For those who think the war in Iraq is strictly about oil, GWB is not going into Myanmar anytime soon. Not because of the lack of oil, but I think he's just tired of being battered by his political foes and is looking forward to retirement. That should make the Lib / Dem's very happy as they can try to talk the situation to death.

Does America need another doer more than a talker? I would think so and you certainly won't find much doing coming out of Hillary. She learned well from John Kerry. Remember the famous 'Yes I voted for it before I voted against it' quote? She's starting with that nonsense herself now, meaning you won't see much leadership coming from her.

I realize that it appears the USA is about to spread itself a bit thinner, with it's eye on Iran, but who can blame them? Iran has disrespected the States for some time now, denied the Holocaust and vowed to drive Israel into the sea. Am-a-nut-job keeps insisting he wants nuclear power to produce energy for his people. Why? He's sitting on one of the largest oil deposits in the world and between him and his buddy Hugo Chavez could run their countries for years without needing nuclear power. Russia wants to buy some of his oil. What will they give him in return? Rubles? I doubt it. Am-a-nut-job will demand technology and possibly warheads to 'protect' his country.

I think when the American election is over, Hillary will probably end up as prez and that will be a shame. The USA has to re-group and re-think its strengths and weaknesses. It needs a strong, confident leader who isn't afraid of the UN and is willing to accept the American role in the world as its policeman.

Hopefully the trouble and strife in Myanmar will be over before any more people get killed there.

HELLO

October 17th 2007 20:17
Okay, so I'm back. Let's set down some rules so we know where we are. I will not suffer the ravings of a queer Muslim Australian. He will be ignored. I don't care if he wanks himself in front of his monitor 24/7. To me, he is trash to be thrown aside. The same goes for his friends, and they know who they are. They can all circle jerk til the end of time for all I care.
As for the asshole who hijacked my site and turned it into Arnold's site, back away quickly. I'm on your trail and have friends in high places.
Hopefully we can get back to the subject of intelligent debate and skip all this nonsense. For those of you who refuse to look at the bio of the writer, this is shot across your bow. You read it here first and please don't forget it. Unless you have something interesting to add to the conversation, that pertains to what was writitten, shut the fuck up.
Thank you.

MAYBE THERE'S HOPE

September 10th 2007 09:02
I read a rather interesting article today involving the extradition of prisoners between Canada and the USA.

It seems our government has said no to a number of extraditions even after they've been approved by the authorities in the States. The latest, biggest case that comes to mind is that of Conrad Black. Convicted of 4 out of 13 charges levelled against him, and facing serious time in an American prison, it is presumed that Black will apply to serve his sentence in Canada

FAHRENHEIT 9/11

September 8th 2007 13:03
I just got finished watching Fahrenheit 9/11 by Michael Moore. I thought the man was supposed to do documentaries. What I saw was a comedy.

He tries to tell us what George W. might be thinking at any given moment and tries (poorly) to be provocative. The film opens with Bush visiting a school and reading to the kids when he receives word the WTC has been struck by airplanes and the country is under attack. Moore times Bush's response to the situation. Seven minutes. Is Bush afraid because his advisers have left him in the lurch? Is he thinking about fishing on his ranch in Texas? Or maybe he's clever enough to know that if these young kids see the POTUS being rushed out of the building under heavy guard, something really, really bad has happened and he doesn't want to start a blind panic? Maybe he's thinking, "Why didn't Clinton take care of bin Laden when he had the chance?" Moore never mentions those options

LEARNING TO READ

September 7th 2007 17:23
I guess it was too much to ask for. People, some of them anyway, just refuse to learn how to read. They seem to be mainly from the hardcore left wing and it makes me wonder if affirmative action worked anywhere in the world. Not from what I've seen so far.

Of course this post is all about what has been happening here on Orble this last week. Surprise, eh? I have read the 'special posts' by 'special people' and see no sign of bigotry, racism or hypocrisy. But some people do. Especially the writer who couldn't read to save her life and just had to do a post to get some friends on line

CAN WE GET IT STRAIGHT?

September 4th 2007 17:30
I recently wrote an article about the hatred the French hold toward Americans and anything that the USA stands for. I will not back down from what I said and neither will I rehash the whole story now.

The article generated a great deal of comment and I was struck by the ignorance of some people who wrote to comment on it. I was called a racist, as I have been in the past, and I'm getting rather tired of it

PAY ATTENTION

September 3rd 2007 14:36
I recently wrote an article on anti-Americanism. Wow, was I ever surprised by the response. I didn't think there were that many people out there who just hate the States outright for no good reason.

My insomnia kicked in last night so I thought I'd cruise through some of the authors on this site and that opened my eyes even more. It really makes you shake your head when you read some of this stuff. Some is good, some is bad and some is just junk. But one article stuck in my mind

YOU DECIDE

September 1st 2007 20:40
Following is an article by Michael Coren of the Toronto Sun. While I might disagree with him on a number of issues, I think he hit this on on the head. My friend, SL Bradish has railed against the liberal press for some time and her readers insist she switch from Fox News to the 'accepted' media, ABC, CBS, NBC and the like to get the true version of politics and history. SL is a big C conservative and I don't always agree with her either although I have to admire her ability to back up what she writes on these blogs. If more people would get their heads out of their a-holes and actually read what she writes, they might become better writers themselves.

Regardless, the article is printed in its entirety and it is here for your viewing pleasure. Beforehand though, I must say that I've had idiots who don't read my entire columns and see where the information comes from. Perhaps I am on a different astral plane than these folks and they can't see a simple report for what it is. Don't come back to me over this. I didn't write it. I am just reporting it verbatim. Simple enough for you

ANTI AMERICANISM

September 1st 2007 13:46
From the start, let me say that I've done my share of America bashing. I love watching Leno's 'Jay-Walking' segments and Rick Mercer's 'Talking to Americans' bits. It makes me feel superior somehow, even though I know it is all in jest and every country has citizens who have some degree of ignorance about not only their own country but the rest of the world to boot. But I just got finished watching a PBS special called 'The Anti Americans' and I must say I was appalled.

They spoke with the French, the Poles and the British and by far the French were the worst of the lot. The Poles and Brits, while perhaps not too enamoured with US foreign policy right now, recognized that without the USA, they'd be in a lot worse shape then what they are. They've come to see the hamburger and Coke as signs of prosperity and value the idea that America would invest in their countries. While they may not agree with the war in Iraq or Afghanistan, they certainly do appreciate fast food, American know-how when it comes to building cars, American television and the protection America offers its allies against enemies both foreign and domestic. In other words, they know which side of the bread their butter is on and afford the USA the respect it deserves

Gee, I grew up without learning all this modern liberal crap and I think I deal with sociiety just fine. I haven't killed anyone with an axe inqiite awhile, lol.
My parents and the church taught us the morals, vlaues and manners we have tody and it suited me just fine.
The left wing mmust be scared to death of the right if they need to do this to 'recruit' future voters. Weren't the ancient Romans also free wheeling? Where are they today? Nowhere near the Empire they once commanded.
Do we want to follow them into the depths of helll?

First, what makes you think someone sent me the e-mail about Eboneesha? I am not SL's only friend you know. Second, even if it was sent to me, check the dates here. This post was done in July and you are asking about it in October. Sorry, but I can't help you on this one.

Sorry, but if you do a background search you'll find everything I wrote is true. I've had people trying to take me to task over this article, but somehow they can't back up what they say. The original article was written by Michele Mandel. You can take it up with her if you want. Last time I checked, if you Google 'Sprucedale' you'll see that this article is at or close to the top of their list about this subject.
Thanks for the comment though.

Yikes! You mean the main stream media is dominated by Lib / Dem's? When did that happen? Why didn't I get a memo. Oh, because I listen to both sides to make an informed opinion I guess. That must piss off the left wing. If it doesn't go their way, the right wing is always wrong.
Good post SL.

Why don't you read what SL wrote, Jeff? Or have someone read it to you so you can understand it? SL said she went with information on hand and reported it. I don't know why you left wing nuts have to ask for proof of everything that doesn't follow your beliefs, but demand it from the right wing. Maybe a bit two-faced? You'd probably be taken a bit more seriously if you cut out the name calling too. I doubt it though. You've shown your true colours in the past and I'm sure people read you for entertainment value only, not for any of your pontifical reasoning.

on What if...?

October 22nd 2007 20:04
It seems to me that when we have a wet spring or summer around here, the crops do in fact grow faster and need to be harvested sooner. When the weather is dry and hot, it takes longer to grow. How anyone can say it's a fixed cycle is beyond me. Maybe some of these disbelievers should get some facts, you know, the kind they always ask you for but never provide in their own posts, before they comment.
