Your Time Comes
It's 5 in the morning, my daily morning bliss is due. I've been at work for 2 hours already and I haven't had my usual dose of caffeine. I'm sleepy and bored.
So I hit up a friend and hubby who works in the same company to go downstairs for some coffee.
Friend says pass and hubby says "in 15 minutes."
I get my caffeine fix 15 minutes later. While lingering sipping coffee al fresco waiting for it to kick before I go back upstairs to work, I get a message from a close friend.
I can't believe what I just read so I read it again. Her youngest sister passed away.
I can't believe it. Wow. She's.... she's our baby.
She's only 18. We saw her grow up since she was 7. She's just a sweet, kind, little girl -- then and now.
She wasn't sick, she didn't have any accident. Her other sister just found her unconcious in her bed.
They have the sweetest, loving and fun family. My friends and I always hung around their house every friday afternoon after school because they live a block away. They welcome anyone in their quaint little house like they've known them forever. Her dad painted cherry blossoms on my wedding gown...
I love this family and I just cannot imagine and bear the thought of how they feel losing their baby.
I know for sure she was everyone's baby.
What happened? Moreover, WHY and HOW can this happen?!
My friends and I couldn't ask the family for the details because they just got back from the hospital and they're definitely still in shock. I just can't believe it. I'm sure no one can.
My heart sank and my eyes filled with tears as I was hearing my friend talk in a bare whisper. She's lifeless, and all I could say was Sorry and be sure I'm there to listen. Later, when we go see her, a hug would probably make our eyes well up in tears once again.
Dear Zara, we will definitely miss you. You may have left the world so soon, but you surely left memories for everyone - your family, friends or even mere acquaintances - to forever cherish. You maybe an angel now.. but to us, you'll always be our little girl with a very warm smile of missing teeth, coupled with affectionate hugs and kisses.
You'll always be our little girl.
I know the elderly always would say, when your time comes, then it's your time. Always reminds me of the movies "Heart and Soul" (Robert Downey, Kyra Sedgwick, etc) and Meet Joe Black. I never took it seriously although I do believe in it.
It's just.
too sudden.

Went there yesterday with our other friends. It's just sad that we saw each other after a year (maybe more) in this situation.
You're right Tracy, just being there for her AND her family who seemed to really appreciate us being there ASAP was the best we could do.
I still cry remembering how her mom looked like when she saw us... :'(
