Your own Adsense Account

December 5th 2006 22:26
Because Google Adsense only allows a certain number of "channels" to use to track ad performance we are looking to move people onto their own Adsense accounts.

So I'm looking for people to test the new system. All you need to do is have your own Adsense account or create one. It's really easy to set up -- here is the link.

Then you need to create an ad and send me this line from the ad code:

google_ad_client = "pub-197160****************";

Then your client id will be used on 50% of the ads which are displayed on your blog or any posts you create on other blogs. This will also mean that it is much easier for people to start up collaborative blogs with other writers and not to have to worry about dividing up the revenue.

It will also mean that you will be paid directly by Google rather than by Orble which will mean less admin for us -- yay!!

If at some point we do find an ad service which pays more than Google we will give people the option of moving back to the Orble administered system.

Volunteers please step forward

Thanks,
Jon.

It's free to sign up to Adsense. Is that what you mean?

It will not make any difference to anything else.

I would contact the Adsense team and explain what is going on. It's perfectly legit to rotate Adsense client id's and someone must have just assumed that you want to "share" ad space rather than rotate it.

December 7th 2006 01:12
I was accepted, but I read the terms and conditions again and it said you agree to only display Adsense ads on your site and no others

Thats the way I interpreted it?

Comment by Eric

December 7th 2006 01:20
Right. Your Orble blog is YOUR site. It's also, Orble's site. You both have access to it and you both use it. Therefor, you can both rotate ads there.

DigitalPoint does this and they have hundreds of thousands of users. Plugim.com uses it. I even wrote a script that does it in Wordpress and the Adsense team has always given me their blessing.

The script I wrote and run on my blogs for revenue sharing is located here.
http://erodtech.com/2006/10/31/how-to-share-google-adsense-revenue-with-your-wordpress-authors/

Ultimately it's your decision, but I'm quite certain there is no wrong doing in this.

OK -- you can now submit your Adsense key as described above yourself at this link:

http://my.orble.com/community/adsense

I'll put in a proper link to this somewhere in the Control Panel today.

Once you have submitted your adsense code you will no longer be shown commission stats on my.orble.com because you can check them yourself on your adsense account.

Comment by jon

December 7th 2006 22:46
Ashish - The ads will be on a random 50/50 rotation between the writer and Orble. When Orble ads are displayed the revenue from any clicks will go into the Orble adsense account, when your ads are displayed the revenue will go into your adsense account.

Jon.

So Jon, what will happen to any commission we had already accumulated on Orble?

Comment by jon

December 8th 2006 00:01
Nina -- when you submit your adsense code there is a date associated with it so we can pay out any commission earnt before hand.

Jon, I just realised the Google Adsense ID there, must we have the Google Adsense ID in order to continue to earn from Orble?

I was trying to hit the $20 mark to get some cash into my paypal before I pass you the ID. So what shall I do next? Google Adsense won't pay until we hit $100 payout.

Please advice?

Hi,

@Jessicca You have a point.Thts one reason i am giving a thought.I want to keep this blog different than what i have on personal blog.

If google people pay by paypal it would be easier but they dont.

Jessica - I'm afraid that eventually you will yes. We cannot keep track of the revenue earnt by all the separate domains as Google only gives us a certain number of URL channels to use and we are now very close to that limit.

Any commission you have earnt before changing over to have your own AdSense account will be paid out regardless of how small the amount.

Ashish - Google don't pay via PayPal but I that should not stop you being paid by them.
