YOUR LOCAL HEADLINES NEEDED for first topic on the new LAMP site: War in Middle East.
October 28th 2008 00:45
Okay Orblers and worldwide readers: this is our first topic/category for headline news comparisons and it's a big one: The war in the Middle East.
Here is my headline for today, Oct. 27, 2008:
US launches raid in Syria after move into Pakistan
Source: AP News
What have your local papers been saying about this raid, if anything?
Please submit any relevant links here in the comments section.
Once again, I ask all Orblers to pass this blogsite on to any friends they have in other countries--the more bases for comparison we have about the same news items, the better we may all see the big picture.
Thanks, D.

Iraqi politicians warn U.S. raid into Syria could hurt security deal
I can just see Bush in his final days in office saying, "Well my daddy never liked them Syrians either. Can we find a reason to send in some bombs?" Sadly, who knows what is next, Mexico?

Excellent links, all..let's compare:
Damo's links from Oz' The Nation show disapproval over the U.S. attack (which was secret, by the way) as a lack of respect for other countries' sovereignty and borders.
Gene's local U.S. paper link remarks that the attack was a tactical blunder on the U.S.'s part--after all, the pact with Iraq for U.S. forces to stay there is up in December.
My link quotes an unnamed U.S. commander as saying "We're taking matters into our own hands.." --and has a general air of "if you (Middle Eastern countries) don't kill all the Al-qaeda members, we're gonna--no matter where we have to go."
Three different views so far..keep those headlines coming in, folks. This is getting more and more interesting.
Ah, and I see a late entry from Orble's own faction of the Norman Conquest , hahahahaa!!! Levity from David and Norm is always appreciated on this site..adds perspective. Thanks, guys!
