I have to comment, I'm from Detroit!

March 26th 2008 10:34
So yesterday Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his former Chief of Staff were charged with a cumulative 12 counts of an assortment of crimes. Ranging from perjury to obstruction of justice and the conspiracy to commit a crime the entire city as it seemed like the little pieces of our reputation were washed down the river.
But let's go into something a little more pressing. Why does our leadership feel as if they are untouchable? Like anything that is hidden in plain sight, eventually someone tells you that its there. No man is above the law...thanks Ben. I feel that it all comes to comfort. Mayor Kilpatrick was too comfortable from the beginning of his first term. He felt that he ruled the world. Obviously forgetting that it's only Detroit. The Mayor never had a sense of gratitude when the results awarding his second term where aired. He presented a speech of "Detroiters have finally done something right". He's audacious and bold and when you mix those with power and stupidity the outcome will never be good.

But remember Detroiters, city officials, and legislatures, remember that when the rain falls it doesn't fall on one mans house. As sure as Kwame is convicted he will take every single person in his circle along with him. And why wouldn't he? He doesn't know who to trust, who blew the whistle on the text messages? I know you aren't naive enough to believe that the Free Press found them on their own. Au contra ire. Say it with me, "who snitched?". And I am not against snitching, I'm against half-snitching or hinting at a piece of the truth. There is way more to this that meets the eye. There are more people involved than we've imagined

Seriously Kwame? Seriously!?

January 31st 2008 03:30
So I am guessing that the first thing that I will see tomorrow on my way to the library is a street vendor selling "WE FORGIVE YOU KWAME" t-shirts. And all I have to say is that I just may consider buying one.

The factors in the cases against this man and for this man are bewildering. So many questions come to mind. So many answers aren't there. Where is Detroit going, definitely not the media, and as of yet, not the mayor. Detroit has lost its ability to collectively come to a decision, whether it is to band together and make the city better, or whether to spend countless hours wondering just what Mayor Kilpatrick was going to reveal in his address to the city this afternoon. So here is what I propose

This afternoon, after missing a thousand court dates pertaining to her children’s’ custody, Britney Spears, surprisingly missed another. Personally, I didn’t see it coming. Aside from this the DOW fell more than 200 points after at .75 percent rate cut the Fed approved on early Monday morning. Solidifying the fact that no one actually regards Martin Luther King Day as a national or federal day of remembrance, but a day to get things finished without the boss looming over your shoulder. So, what of the fact that General Motors aren’t selling cars, Buick is number one in Japan, and if I know one thing, I know that the Japanese are always up on some new shit.

But how does this affect me, my community, my constituents, business partners, and most of all my enemies? These are the questions that the news media are trying to combat. Their answer, so far and however, have all been pretty monotonous. Let the people pick their own news, but remember, keep it blonde, keep it pretty, and most of all, keep it American. FOX News Network introduced “U REPORT” in late 2006, MSNBC mirrored their campaign for viewer/media interaction with “FIRST PERSON”. Both of these “Choose your News” programs were put in place so that viewers felt in power. Surprisingly enough, there still isn’t anything new on television, more pics of Spears travelling to and from Starbucks and CVS Pharmacies across the west coast. Beyonce falling down stairs at a concert gets more hits than Mitt Romney in a verbal tuft with Associated Press journalist Glen Johnson on terms of lobbyists being tied to his Presidential campaign

So the large nonprofit, customer oriented firm that I was working for let me go. And it feels really badly. So bad in fact that I have become a tad bit discouraged. I was such a good employee, how could they possibly do this? Seriously, I am scared for my well being! Dealing with so much rejection as well as trying handle the fact that I am 23, a college grad with no car on the Eastside of Detroit makes me feel like there really is no coming up.

But, all that aside, I am back on the job market. I went so far as to make up little cards that lists a few of my credentials, as well as my contact info and the fact that I am available for immediate hire. Its extreme, but a girl has to be prepared. I've scoured the internet and now I see hope with idea of contacted firms that have not listed positions and requesting an internship. Maybe I am just setting myself up for more rejection, maybe this is a lesson in writing. But I am going all out. Its not going to be like before, I promise, where I was poor, hungry and lonely for work for close to four months. Nope, I am not going in that direction again

So today I decided to come home from work, I was tired, and ready to get some things done around the house. I've been apartment hunting, as well trying to solidify my side hustle. Neither of which have been working out for the best, but I am going to be consistent.

Well, anywho I decided to check the stats on my BLOGS, and it seems ORBLE hates me and my silly words. But, you know what, I DON'T CARE!! I love writing, I love the release, I love the sound of my non-manicured nails pat-pat-pattering on the keyboard of my Compaq nx9010! After a long day spent in a cubicle reading something that has nothing to do with me or my well sought after happiness, I enjoy the thought of not passing out on my parents' couch, an blogging. Hell, I even put this hobby in the INTEREST section of my resume

I'm pretty darn thankful

November 23rd 2007 02:44
I have some reason, today, and every other day after this great and irrelevant holiday to feel thankful. I no longer am suffering from the murderous bug that is often called The Flu! Which is a relief all in itself. But also, despite the extreme bitter cold I am enjoying the fact that my life is looking up.

I first realized that there really isn't anything in my life that is overly oppressive or depression causing. How bad could it be, other than the fact that I have to ride Detroit city buses on the daily, I have no major bills, a college education, two very interesting jobs, and a cozy little room in my parents home, not to mention a nice little man-friend that doesn't mind if I stop by every now and crack a few jokes. Life is good, so far. But, I have goals. And with goals come obligations and obstacle

1st thing...Get over the flu

November 14th 2007 00:25
So a few days I was at work, working extremely hard, lifting boxes, unpacking Ceramica, just plain working and I feel a scratch in the back of my throat. I drink some room temperature water and keep it moving. But it wasn't two days that had gone by when I felt paralyzed by the flu, my entire body throbbed with pain and congestion. I couldn't sleep, couldn't eat and worst of all, couldn't breath. It was horrible. I prayed, I cried, I drank garlic soup that my sister forced down my esophagus, along with this weird concoction of tea she conjured up.

How can I grow up if I can't take enough care of my body to not get the flu? Honestly, I was making amends with all that I did wrong in my short life time. Was this sickness brought to me as a curse from a friend that I recently kicked to the curb? Was this because I cheated on a Vocab Exam in the eleventh grade
