You are important to God

Not even a sparrow, worth only half a penny, can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered.
So don't be afraid; you are more valuable to him than a whole flock of sparrows.
-Matthew 10:29-31 (New Living Translation)
Recently, my husband and I went out with some friends for supper. As we were waiting for our table, I looked outside and saw some pigeons enjoying the remnants of food from the restaurant where we were about to dine. I observed other people as well to see their reactions to the birds congregating at the front entrance of the restaurant. Most people ignored them or acted as though they were a nuisance, but one little boy who probably was not any older than two had compassion upon them and started feeding them. I saw them look expectantly toward the boy, yearning for the tasty morsels from his hand. The look of pure joy and delight on the youngster's face brought an unexplainable feeling of peace and joy to my own heart that I often enjoy as I observe the curious ways of youngsters. The boy's father who was right behind him seemed to share in my sentiments, appreciating and basking in the priceless sentimental treasure of the moment.
The boy and the pigeons reminded me of the scripture above and how much God values and cares for each one of us as individuals. Sometimes we get so caught up in the hectic dog eat dog pace of the world around us that we forget just how deep His love for us really is.
Matthew 10 says God even cares enough about us to know how many hairs are upon our head. Now I certainly don't have that kind of dedication to myself. I lose hairs every day in my hairbrush and on the floor of my bathroom. I certainly wouldn't have the patience to do a recount every morning. I am so thankful that God cares about the little things in my life, even the things that everyone else views as insignificant and trivial.
Thank you, Jesus, for caring about all the big things and all the little things. Thank you that I can come to you with all my concerns, no matter how small and trivial they may seem to others. Thank you that you use the smallest things to teach us the biggest lessons about your love. You connect with me in so many ways. I am grateful for who you are to me no matter how insignificant I feel in this great big world that you have made. Please help me to see myself as valuable, special and unique. Bring my perspective of myself closer and closer each day to your perspective of me. In your name I pray, Lord Jesus. Amen.
