THE 51st STATE (LINK)

September 4th 2008 07:19
Hey all,

I wanted to share with those of you that may not have seen it in Oz, and especially for those of you in the US - my mate Dan Ilic's HILARIOUS online show called 'The 51st State' which he did from the DNC last week.

Enjoy!

From Dan:

I've just arrived home from the Democratic National Convention in Denver. During that time I made a video blog for the SMH.com.au, theage.com.au and Heavy.com . Here are the links to the five episodes of my satirical web show 51st State:

EP1: An introduction for dummies:

EP2: Capturing the vibe from Robert Penfold, and looking for the famous Barack Burrito:

EP3: Hillary supporters attempt to break the glass ceiling

EP4: Obama Girl want to help Brendan Nelson. just how easy is it to get information for a quick assassination?

EP5: The Wrap up, and the Merchandise!

Channel Ten's "9am With David and Kim" interviewed James Colquhoun, the director of Food Matters last Thursday.

James flew to Melbourne for the interview on the day of the World Premiere in Sydney, ahead of the global internet release last Friday.

I dunno about you, but I think he does OK for his first time on TV

With a scheduled 100 effects shots before production began, it was typical of the uphill struggle of the making of this film to end up doing over 800 effects shots by the time post-production was complete. Even in post, they could not escape!

Add the hard slog of the audio department to achieve a big soundscape and movie score on the smell of an oily rag, and it becomes very obvious that this film was only possible due to the passion of those involved.

Look for Part 1: Genesis and Part 2: Battlefront.

Since us Aussies got gypped out of the Behind The Scenes Featurettes on the Gabriel retail DVD, the filmmakers have decided to launch www.gabrielmovie.com, the Official Fan Site containing deleted scenes, fan films and the "Behind The Madness" documentary in it's entirety

The A to Z of Music Videos

February 27th 2008 22:48
OK, so it's not an original idea... I pinched it from JohnDoe, but I had so much fun doing the Movie thing that I thought it would be a blast to do it with music vids (hope you don't mind, JD?) - but here's the twist:

No post without a YouTube link

The world is largely insane, Mrs M. There seems no rhyme nor reason to it. I, possibly sadly, have given up trying to work it out.

on HAVE WE LOST OUR ABILITY TO THINK?

April 15th 2009 22:09
It's a real mindset I suppose. I have information and will not share it unless I profit.

Mmm... maybe... but I don't think that's ALWAYS the case. Consider the fact that many will not hold advice sacred or useful unless they HAVE read it in a book or been told by an 'expert'. Sometimes it's a legitimate way of getting your message across which would otherwise fall on deaf ears... (Food Matters, anyone?).

" If I want streak free windows I’m sure a quick question to surrounding friends will more than supply me with the necessary tools."

Or if you want to raise a child. Or grow a vege patch. Or build something. Or....

You think just fine, Mrs M.

Hurm.

I see this article as proof of my suspicions that you see me as a member.

Well observed and well written as always, Mrs Yoda.

WTF?

I'm glad our son doesn't have a gun. Our suburb would be a ghost town.

on My Music is Outdated?

November 29th 2008 22:59
For me it comes down to time. If I had the time I had as a teen, I would still be running out of things to listen to a discovering new gems. I've found a few in recent year, but only due to good friends handing me CDs and saying "You gotta listen to this, it's awesome and you'll love it!!"

Sigur Ros and Bliss n Eso are good examples. I would have ever heard these guys, and they are now among my favourites.
