Cincy Tennis Day 4 part 1

August 16th 2007 20:24
Who wants it more? Apparently Baggy Baggy… I mean Ferrer.

Mr. Roddick fell to the persistent good serve of Ferrer, 7-6(4), 6-4
Roddick didn’t serve bad, he didn’t face a single break point until the last game of the match. So why the higher seed lost? His forehand shots were not landing on court; he made over 10 unforced errors with his forehand. The forehand is a key part in Roddick’s game and today it wasn’t reliable.
However, what defined the match was how surprisingly good David Ferrer was serving, this frustrated Roddick, take it as a Sampras fact; Big servers get frustrated and complicated when the opponent is serving at their pace.
Ferrer didn’t have the faster serve, but the placement of this left Roddick tumbling and mumbling. Ferrer was consistent and solid; this is a guy that will rarely beat himself.
Andy needs to work a lil more in his readjustment game to make a statement at the US Open. Ferrer needs to keep the good serve and fighting spirit to go deep in this tourney.

Baggy Baggy aka Marcos Baghdatis is making magic against Federer. It will be interesting to see if that can beat Federer.

Carlos Moya, el Moyini!! Is into the quarters of this Cincy! I am really happy to see this. Moya is a great player with good serve and forehand and seeing him having success after his 30s is an inspiration to many players in the tour. He beat Del Potro 7-5, 3-6, 7-5.

In other results so far this Thursday 16;
My lil sis fav. Hewitt defeated J Melzer.
N Almagro over J Nieminen 6-2, 6-2
Young American WC keeps on rolling; Sam Querrey over Nadal’s pacifier J Monaco 6-3, 7-5.

Life is all about making little readjustment here and there; you won’t ever make it perfect, but you can always model it in a way that makes you happy.

Roddick vs. David Ferrer

August 16th 2007 05:14
Roddick vs. David Ferrer

It won’t be a Spanish test when Andy Roddick faces off number 16th seed David Ferrer from Spain; it will be a test of whos wants it more.
The Spaniard has been on a roll defeating Indianapolis finalist John Isner 7-6(3), 6-3 and Radek Stepanek , 6-2, 7-5, who has been on fire doing the worm after every win in the US Open series.
The head-to-head between Roddick and Ferrer is 2-1, with Roddick on the lead. Roddick also took the W at their last meeting in the ATP Masters Series Miami this year.

So who do you think will take the big W this time?
Roddick is playing great; his backhand looks like it could really become a weapon in his arsenal. He needs the win because he’s the defending Champ and thus he has some points to defend. On the other hand I bet Ferrer will play like he has nothing to lose. To his credentials; he has two tittles this year and even though he is known as a clay court specialist; he has had respectful results on hard court. On top of that we can’t forget he has proven that he’s a fighter and won’t easily concede a defeat. Andy will have to do what he does best here hold his serve real tight.

The match begins at 1:00 pm EST (08-16-07) on Center court. ESPN2 will be covering it.
Check back for the discussion of the results.

The seeds are falling in Cincinnati.

The Western and Southern Financial Group Masters is the last Masters event before the US Open.
Instead of seeing the top players rolling in the first rounds; they are being dismissed by resurging players and some newbees.

The 2 player in the world, Roland Garros Champ and Wimbledon runner up Rafael Nadal retired with a left arm injury in his opening round match against Argentine Juan Monaco. The match was 6-7(5), 1-4. Monaco a 23 year old from Argentina was 0-2 career record against Nadal.

Young American wild card Sam Querrey, who rallied to defeat 13 seed Mikhail Youzhny 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, will face Monaco next.

Rafa's role model and close friend Carlos Moya, defeated read hot player, 4 seed Novak DjoKovic 6-4, 6-1. More impressive is that Djokovic is coming from defeating Mr. 1 in the world last week in the Rogers Masters event.

Former world 1 and unseeded Juan Carlos Ferrero, who reached the final last year, upset No. 6 seed Fernando Gonzalez 6-2, 7-6(7), to reach the third round. Fernando Gonzalez had a hot start this year reaching the finals of the Aussi Open. Ferrero will face American James Blake who is coming from an abdominal injury, but proved to be on track and stronger reaching the 3rd round. He defeated Nicolas Kiefer 6-4, 6-4.

No. 16 seed David Ferrer, a quarterfinalist last year, reached the third round with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over in-form Radek Stepanek.

Ferrer, one of three Spaniards to win Wednesday, will take on 3 seed and defending champion Andy Roddick in the third round on Thursday. Roddick has won two of their previous three meetings.
A day of many upsets; however, is not over. On court right now, as of 8:06 local time, is the number one player of the world Roger Federer taking on Julien Benneteau from France. The match is 5-2 favoring Federer.
Also, Marcos Baghdatis vs Juan Ignacio Chela; Baggy Baggy was broken at 2-2, but took the brake back right away. He match is 4-5 Chela on serve.

*update* Federer went over Benneteau 6-3, 6-3 and Baggy Baggy won 6-7(6), 6-4, 6-2.
