Hypocritical Australia Should Wake Up

The Australian producers of Big Brother Australia have been forced to apologise to the people of Mexico after authorities became angry about the use of the Mexican flag during an episode of 'Friday Night Live' where contestants were made to dress in giant Mexican sombreros and droopy moustaches played musical chairs and ate chilli con carne to win points in the June 19 'FNL' show which was labelled as 'Mexican night'
Later, they played a game in which one team protected the Mexican flag against slime-filled balloons thrown by a rival team which obviously upset the Mexican Department of Foreign Relations, who said the event was 'offensive'. "The Mexican national flag has a long and proud history and it stands as a powerful symbol that identifies and unites Mexican citizens wherever they live," it said. "Both the [Mexican] embassy and the Mexican community in Australia are dismayed to know the insensitive and inappropriate manner in which it was presented."

The programme's producers said they had apologised in a letter to the Mexican embassy for any offence caused. "Friday Night Live is themed each week and 19 June's Mexican Night was designed as a tribute to Mexico and its vibrant cultural heritage," it said. "In addition to offering their apologies, Big Brother's producers have assured the Mexican government that something like this would never happen again."

I have to say that I cannot blame the Mexican officials for getting upset about it because in reality the Big Brother 'FNL' program was disrespectful to another country's flag on June 19 and I am just wondering why they (the producers of Big Brother) didn't do some helpful research before allowing contestants to desecrate the Mexican flag on that particular night. If your planning on defending the producers of this stupid program, remember this before you write: We would all be furious if the same thing happened to the Australian flag. Just remember how upset we all got when that kid desecrated the Australian flag during the Cronulla Riot..it's as simple as that.

If there was one good thing about that Friday Night Live, it would be that it has shown how hypocritical we all are when we squeal and carry on "It's an absolute outrage!" when someone desecrates our country's flag but when it's another country's flag being, we all sit around and say "Ahh it's only a game" as in the case of this offensive FNL which has only strengthened my case for Big Brother to be ripped off air and never brought back...time for a bit of decency on TV of a Friday night.

The Weekend Carnage Wrap Up

Well as you all know by now that there was major carnage around the NSW Coast especially around Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Hunter Valley and around the Central Coast during the June Long Weekend due to all the storm carnage.
I got to say that I was lucky, apart from my shoes, socks and the legs of my trousers getting wet in water that was covering the main road at Mayfield (an inner suburb of Newcastle) on Friday) I was extremely lucky, I didn't lose electricity, my house wasn't flooded or anything else like that because my house is located on the side of a hill so no floodwater can get in and compared to the stories I have heard from some of my friends and others in worse affected areas, one friend I spoke to, the bottom level of her two level house had water go through it while another friend had gone shopping at Jesmond, caught the bus, the bus couldn't go along it's original route because of flash flooding, got off the bus, hitched a ride with a couple in order to get home but couldn't so she spent the night at this couple's house...it has been quite an extraodinary weekend for so many reasons but i have to say compared with my friends and hearing other stories on the radio over the long weekend, my story is quite boring, Basically what happened to me is that I was at work and that my boss sent me home early from work but I had to walk through a car park of ankle deep water (which is nothing compared to swimming through neck deep water), I had to walk over and get something at Woolworths which is across the other side of the road meaning that I had to walk through another lot of ankle deep water just to get across the road.
Anyway I got home safely but as you can see my story is pretty tame.

If you are in the areas affected, have electricity and wish to share how you spent the Long Weekend from Nightmareville then drop a comment.
Anyway that's all for now so tata cyaz

Common Sense Lacking

Everyone seems to want to come out of the woodwork and defend Paris Hilton's irresponsible behaviour which will now confine her to jail for 45 days starting on June 5, these people seem to have forgotten one simple thing: in life you take responsibility for your own actions and it seems to me that Paris and her sympathisers have forgotten this, you may remember that Hilton was caught drink driving late last year and had her licence suspended and she was put on probation meaning she wasn't allowed to drive for a certain period of time, well she jumped in her car and drove while she was still under probation and her licence suspended. Hilton says she didn't know that she wasn't allowed to drive, which is no excuse, if she didn't know she should have read the terms of her probation which police found in the glove box on the night she was caught.

Paris Hilton and her sympathisers lack a lot of common sense when they say that she doesn't deserve to go to jail because she didn't know that she was not allowed to drive, like I said before she could have taken the terms of her probation sheet out of her car glove box and read them before she decided to go for a drive which certainly would have been the responsible and common sense thing to do, instead she chose to violate the terms of the probation and now she will be in jail on June 5, all because she lacked common sense and didn't take responsibility for her actions.

Ms Hilton or any other celebrity who breaks the law should take responsibility for their actions like any other person who doesn't enjoy the same status and it seems to me that her sympathisers have no common sense or an understanding that you must take responsibility for your actions at all in defending Paris's behaviour.

However this seems to be just a reflection on a Western society where everyone seems to have forgotten common sense and taking responsibility for their actions, instead we all seem intent on blaming someone else or something else as a reason for a particular behaviour.

Thank you ANZACS...Lest We forget

Hey everyone, hope you are all having a good ANZAC day and I have to say I almost had tears in my eyes when I was watching the ANZAC Service live from ANZAC Cove (Gallipoli) in Turkey this morning, what those brave men and women have done for this country during all the wars Australia has been involved in over the years, we should never ever forget what they have done for Australia, it's more then what any of us could ever possibly do in one lifetime so we should all be very grateful to all these men and women... Lest we forget.

Speaking of ANZAC Day, I have to say that I was angry to hear what these five utterly stupid and disrespectful teenage girls did to the War Memorial in Bathurst. If you haven't heard, they went to the memorial in Bathurst's Carillion Park around midnight last night and spray painted 'Anzacs are murderers' and peace signs all over the memorial, a short time later when a complaint was put into police, they arrested the five girls involved with the sixteen year old being charged for malicious damage. I believe that these girls should not just have the full force of the law thrown at them but they should also learn a thing or two about what the ANZACS did for our country just so they can do stupid things like what they have done so they have a little more respect for our diggers then they currently have shown by defacing a memorial. Also why was only the sixteen year old charged and not the four fifteen year olds involved? Oh well, I hope the parents of these girls have given them a swift kick in the pants and made them watch the ANZAC service from ANZAC Cove this morning or in the least attended a dawn service then they might feel a bit stupid for what they did.

Been Lied Too For Too Long

Long time...no blog...how does that happen? Time just seems to get away or something, I am listening to a pretty ordinary song on the radio at the moment called "She's Madonna" by Robbie Williams. I actually prefer the music he was releasing when he was the so called 'bad boy' not the crap that he is putting out there now...lol. (I have never really like Robbie Williams though)

I was interested to hear about a Pentagon report that Saddam Hussein was not in cahoots with Al Qaeda before the Iraq War began in 2003 and if you remember that was one of the main reasons we went to war in Iraq because Hussein was working with Al Qaeda on a new set of WMDs and because Hussein had a massive stock piles of weaponry or something...I am really starting to believe that the war in Iraq was one massive mistake and the Australian government is going to have a big tumble when Australia goes to the polls in November or whenever the election is (I don't know why Australia can't have fixed term federal elections like in the states and territories). Once John Howard retires, Labor will win the next election because let's face it...not too many people I know like Peter Costello all that much, Mr Costello basically has the personality of a kumquat...just kidding

Double Trouble

Thank goodness the NSW election is over, I have my mind on other things today such as the problems I am having with these two year old twin girls I baby sit for on occasions...talk about double trouble! Every time I baby sit for them, either one or both of them are in the thinking corner for one reason or another and neither of them understand the meaning of the word "No" and I cannot smack them for obvious reasons (I am not their mother).
In one incident, they both tipped buckets of water over another child.

It is True: Debnam in Speedos

Yes, it is true, the NSW Opposition leader, Peter Debnam has been making Liberal policy announcements in Speedos...not just once but seven times through out the election campaign so far. I will provide pictorial evidence if needed

Debnam vs Craig
A British newspaper compared Debnam to Daniel Craig

The Bizarre NSW Election campaign so far

I have noticed some bizarre things in the last couple of weeks and a lot of it is to do with the up coming NSW state election.
1.) The NSW Opposition leader, Peter Debnam making policy announcements in nothing but a pair of Speedos. I suppose he has to do something to make people aware of who he is because most people in NSW have got next to no idea who he is unless you listen to or watch the news

A combo of everything

Where do people get off reporting false information? That rather trashy British newspaper, News of the World has reported that Spears was on the verge of committing suicide after she reportedly wrote the devils number on her forehead and ran around the Malibu rehab centre yelling "I am the Anti christ!" and then reportedly tried to hang herself with bed sheets according to this newspaper but then Channel 7's Hollywood reporter came on TV this morning and said that these reports were false and that Britney is doing just fine. Then the Channel 9 reporter said he doesn't believe this story is true. To me, this latest Britney story is a little too far fetched if you ask me and it is about time, people left her alone, that would be the best thing for Britney at the moment.

Anyway bad news for the St George Illawarra Dragons, their makeshift five eighth, Mark Gasnier is most definitely out for the season after he saw a specialist today and it was confirmed that he will need surgery to repair his torn pectorial muscle. With Gasnier out for the season, their odds have blown out exponentially with bookies, going from an eleven dollar chance of winning the premiership to a twenty dollar chance. The Bulldogs and the Storm are currently the favourites for the competition which kicks off on March 16.

Do you believe in Global Warming (climate change?

Thank you to those who posted their back to school stories in the last blog entry, I really appreciate them

Anyway I want to write about global warming because there is a new report into climate change which is particularly alarming, people are saying that tempratures around Australia will increase by 5 degrees, water will evaporate quicker and there is more of a chance of drought along with the other side effects of climate change.

Brand New Crowded House album

After a long week of rumours and innuendo, the rumours are true. Crowded House are getting back together for not only a world tour but a brand new album! I have to admit I am really excited...I love nearly every song of Crowded House's..my fave Crowded House song is a toss up between 'Don't Dream its over' and 'Now We're Getting Somewhere'....but there are soo many good Crowded House songs.

Anyway enough on my obsession with Crowded House... The so called Mufti of Australia re entered the country this morning after a what I would call 'spreading hatred of Australia, Australians and their women" holiday in Egypt, thats where he said that Muslims have more right to Australia then any other religion living in Australia and he reinterated he comments about immodestly dressed women...remember? Now this time Lakemba mosque, if you really understand what the majoirty of the Australian community want then sack him. I certainly hope that he doesn't stand for the seat of Lakemba at the State Election in March which hurts me to say that because most members of the Muslim community are wonderful people who work hard and try to do the right thing by Australia but its people like Al Hilaly who give the Muslim community a bad name

Howard denies Rudd threat

Prime Minister, John Howard has denied that his latest cabinet reshuffle is because the government is worried about the threat of the new Labor leader, Kevin Rudd.
Howard finally sacked Immigration minister, Amanda Vanstone who has been dumped to the backbench in favour of the Workplace Relations minister, Kevin Andrews who will now take the Immigration portfolio. Joe Hockey (Human Services) now takes on Workplace Relations while Senator Ian Campbell takes on Human Services with Malcom Turnbull is now Environment minister.
I do wonder if this move of the Prime Minister's to move Malcom Turnbull to the enviroment is one to combat Labor's new Environment and Climate Change shadow minister, Peter Garrett (former frontman of politically motivated band, Midnight Oil) and also sacking Amanda Vanstone from the Cabinet is in reaction to the mess that Immigration has been over the past couple of years but it has been in a mess ever since the current Attorney General, Phillip Ruddock was the Immigration Minister.

Be Straight: The Coalition are in Trouble in Iraq

Another day another mass murder of Iraqi citizens in Iraq. This time more then 100 people were killed when two bombs went off simultaneously in Baghdad which will cause even more concern for US President Bush ahead of his State of the Union speech tomorrow considering that the US had their worst couple of days in Iraq since the war began back in 2003 on the weekend. The new attacks come as the first of 21,000 US troops enter Iraq, some 3,200 troops fly into Baghdad this week ordered by President Bush.

I am not convinced at all that this new plan of President Bush's is going to work, the trouble is that the Coalition is in a dead end street and both options look equally unappetizing, we do what Bush has done and increase the troop numbers and yet there is even more trouble however if we withdraw, we are opening the way for terrorists to use Iraq as a base to launch their attacks especially in Israel (whom I believe had a very big say in what the US did with Iraq) and Somalia

Political Pointscoring

Australia claims to be a free country that has free speech and people are able to say what they want when they want but I listened to an English commentator who was here for the Ashes cricket series, he said that Australia may claim to be a land that promotes free speech and a fair go for all but in reality, Australia's politicians have overregulated everything. I also might add over taxed, over worked and over tired of political point scoring by governments at all levels. (Australia has three tiers of government: Federal, State and Local...it is a really complicated government system) No Federal, State or Local government seems interested in solving the many issues within Australia and that includes water, drought, health, climate change and education just purely the fact that there is an election coming up in March in New South Wales and a Federal election sometime in October/November and it seems like both State major parties are making empty promises to attract gullible voters who think it'll all be wonderful if that particulat party gets in.
So when the Federal election comes up, I encourage all you Aussies to think about who you vote for before you vote for the person who has made the most promises which sound good but will never happen
