World Where You Live - by Julie Keast

World Where You Live - April 2007

Thank you ANZACS...Lest We forget

Hey everyone, hope you are all having a good ANZAC day and I have to say I almost had tears in my eyes when I was watching the ANZAC Service live from ANZAC Cove (Gallipoli) in Turkey this morning, what those brave men and women have done for this country during all the wars Australia has been involved in over the years, we should never ever forget what they have done for Australia, it's more then what any of us could ever possibly do in one lifetime so we should all be very grateful to all these men and women... Lest we forget.

Speaking of ANZAC Day, I have to say that I was angry to hear what these five utterly stupid and disrespectful teenage girls did to the War Memorial in Bathurst. If you haven't heard, they went to the memorial in Bathurst's Carillion Park around midnight last night and spray painted 'Anzacs are murderers' and peace signs all over the memorial, a short time later when a complaint was put into police, they arrested the five girls involved with the sixteen year old being charged for malicious damage. I believe that these girls should not just have the full force of the law thrown at them but they should also learn a thing or two about what the ANZACS did for our country just so they can do stupid things like what they have done so they have a little more respect for our diggers then they currently have shown by defacing a memorial. Also why was only the sixteen year old charged and not the four fifteen year olds involved? Oh well, I hope the parents of these girls have given them a swift kick in the pants and made them watch the ANZAC service from ANZAC Cove this morning or in the least attended a dawn service then they might feel a bit stupid for what they did.

Anyway that's all for now, a big thank you to our ANZACS for giving us our freedoms and we will never forget your sacrifices you all made for the country we have now.

Lest we forget.

Is the Cricket World Cup over yet?

I don't know about anyone else but I feel like this Cricket World Cup has been going since last years Melbourne Cup, we now know that Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and South Africa will finally take part in the semi finals.
It's taken so long to get to this stage of the tournament that I believe there are people shouting "Hand up if you care about this world cup?" and I have to say with so many one sided matches in this tournament I have to say I couldn't care less, sure there has been that occasional upset but not enough upsets to get me interested in this tournament, let's hope the semi finals prove to be brilliant as they have a fair bit to make up for what has been a long and boring Cricket World Cup. I wonder if the ICC will consider this tournament to be success despite half filled or empty stadiums, expensive tickets and completely one sided matches.
Mind you it being the ICC, I wouldn't be surprised if they call it a 'success'. The only success the tournament has had is sending insomniacs to sleep.
I believe Australia and Sri Lanka will play in the final with Australia to win.
What are your thoughts?

Youtube is Better then Sex

I believe Youtube is better then sex (My opinion will probably change once I have had sex but right now, nothing is better then Youtube) I just love getting onto Youtube and looking at all the wacky music videos from the eightes and early nineties and laughing at the bad fashion sense, the one that tops the list for mine is MC Hammer's "You can't touch this", I just can't help laughing, the song was ridiculous but topped by the video which was even more ridiculous, Youtube sends me deep into my psyche which is probably not the best thing considered that I believe I should have been born in the 1970s just so I could live through the eighties. You can spend hours on Youtube watching people stuff up and do all sorts of stupid things while sex may only last 12 seconds. Best be finding those Aspro ads from the 1980s as well, are they on Youtube?

Anyway that's all I wanted to say today and just to reiterate my opening statement: I believe Youtube is better then sex

Been Lied Too For Too Long

Long time...no blog...how does that happen? Time just seems to get away or something, I am listening to a pretty ordinary song on the radio at the moment called "She's Madonna" by Robbie Williams. I actually prefer the music he was releasing when he was the so called 'bad boy' not the crap that he is putting out there now...lol. (I have never really like Robbie Williams though)

I was interested to hear about a Pentagon report that Saddam Hussein was not in cahoots with Al Qaeda before the Iraq War began in 2003 and if you remember that was one of the main reasons we went to war in Iraq because Hussein was working with Al Qaeda on a new set of WMDs and because Hussein had a massive stock piles of weaponry or something...I am really starting to believe that the war in Iraq was one massive mistake and the Australian government is going to have a big tumble when Australia goes to the polls in November or whenever the election is (I don't know why Australia can't have fixed term federal elections like in the states and territories). Once John Howard retires, Labor will win the next election because let's face it...not too many people I know like Peter Costello all that much, Mr Costello basically has the personality of a kumquat...just kidding
