The Rubik's Cube - by Ruby

World Gods for World Peace

May 20th 2007 07:01
Loving and respecting all religions and images of God doesn't mean that you have to agree with all their doctrines. In fact, you don't even have to believe and agree with every element and doctrine of any religion! Everybody thinks that what they are doing is right. Everybody is doing something different, and each one believes deep in his soul that what he believes is right — some with more contemplation and conviction than others.

There are those who wish to distort and subvert the true meanings of religions, to drive communities apart, to create chaos and violence. Within all religions are extremists who are willing to fall into the trap, to play up to the stereotypes and play into the hands of those who want to undermine their religion.

I believe religious faith is about peace, respect for others, love of family and community, and about the basic laws that allow humans to live together. I chanced upon this quote from an article on pluralism, which I think is food for thought - "The moment you believe yours is the only way, the ego takes over and kills the spirituality and the piety in you. Riddance of ego for ones peace and tranquility is the summation of all religions."

I say - Arrogance is the mother of all evil. Judge the individual, not the religion...

I agree with every element and doctrine of Islam, or to put simply I believe the Quran is the word of god hence is perfect.

Which is why (kind of ironically) I have to accept people for who they are, so long as they aren't trying to put me on a crucifix (or something or another) I can safely say I have no reason to hate them.

Ahmed,
I suppose every religion hasn't taught it's followers to do any bad/evil deed at all. It's just that with time, generations, people in general whom distort the actual teachings.

Hi Ruby,

Great post and I agree with you. I would also add ignorance to be up there with arrogance as the mother of all evil.

Love & stuff
Mrs M
