Working for the Lord
December 2nd 2010 00:02
I found that the time I spent church planting to be most beneficial. However, it put a strain on our marriage. The crunch came when the Pastor asked me if I would like to study toward credentials in the Ministry. These would enable me to take weddings and other associated tasks.
I jumped at the chance. My wife did not feel the same way. She felt left out, as I had already signed papers and made a decision without consulting her or even praying the matter through. She did what any other woman would. Packed her bags and left.
The Pastor stripped me of all my responsibilities and no more talk of Ministry opportunities. I was gutted. When my wife came down we sorted stuff out and reconciled.
Today we are still happily married. Hine and I have learnt the hard way about communication and making rash decisions. We never ministered in that church again and were relegated to the book table. Soon after Hine and I moved to the next town called Timaru.
