Pressing Forward

February 10th 2010 16:55
2/10/10- Hello again everyone. if you have been reading my blog now, I apologize for all the inconvenience I have beset upon you with no posts. I'm still currently working on my last semester of college and making sure I do it right, so of course there have been many commitments clambering for my attention.

But now I have a moment to bring you all up to speed in my quest, and hopefully will get a chance to post more regularly in the future.

I have been meeting with my writing coach and staying in communication with him about this story I want to send in to Harlequin. He approved of the outline I wrote and told me to start writing.

So I have. I have finished the first two chapters and am currently working on the third. Also trying to find more markets to send my mystery story out on. It got its first rejection in the mail recently and I want it to have more shots at publishing.

I'm also nearly done with the third and last book of Nora Roberts' "Sign of Seven" trilogy, and I have to admit it as a man, I love these books. The paranormal romance has really grabbed at my attention, and Ms. Roberts appears to have written the book on character development in romance in my mind. I would recommend this trilogy of books to anyone.

So that means go get it and read it. It's fantastic.

I will let you all know how things are going, but for now I am just pressing to complete the draft and get it ready. Now time to get back working on that third chapter.

Logan Leppert out.

MY EUREKA MOMENT

January 13th 2010 22:00
1/13/09- It's been far too long since my last post, I know. It has been a rambunctious couple of weeks for me. Got a chance to spend a few weeks with family in the grand old state of Iowa. Those few weeks in the frozen heartland had left me with plenty of thinking time. I have been pondering and pondering for many a day as to what to write about for this book I'm going to barter with Harlequiin for.

And then, finally, it hit me.

I have a plot, I have characters, and the drafted outline awaits. I took my first steps, read one Harleqiun Nocturne, two Nocturne Bites, and two novels in Nora Roberts' "Sign of Seven" trilogy, which I find very good and recommend it to anyone.

Yes, I'm a guy and I just said that. Thankfully I have been robbed of all my man cards at an earlier date so there's no need to worry.

It doesn't deal with necessarily original beings to be honest, but as the old mantra continues to state: "if it's undead, don't fix it".

That is all I'll say for now, just keeping the updates coming after a long absence. I leave now to draft the outline.

Logan Leppert signging off.

What's the Right Balance of Sex?

December 23rd 2009 23:38
12/23/09 - I'm just curious. After finishing my first Harlequin Nocturne novel, reading two Nocturne Bites, and now three-quarters through my first Nora Roberts book, I'm trying to discover just the right equation for sex and plot?

Would it sell more to have more sex than plot? As in, do we have that sexual tension right off the bat or let it develop a little more?

Or do we need more plot? Do we have the sexual tension build and then have that chapter-long steamy horizontal tango?

That's the debacle currently raging in the recesses of my mind. I know there are plenty of proponents for each school of throught, and I find myself more of a fan of plot than sex. Then again I'm also thinking from a marketing point of view.

I figure I'll try a resonable blend of both and see where that gets me.

But I would really appreciate if you guys would give me some feedback. I know there are those out there who enjoy reading my blog, and if any of you are Harlequin fans, I would appreciate any feedback.

In the meantime, it is my duty to return to my keyboard and keep up the fight.

Logan Leppert out.

Who Would've Thought....

December 10th 2009 21:26
12/10/09- I think it was Hippocrates who said "Let food be your medicine and medicine be your food". Well if by food he meant romance novels and my medicine he meant life, then you've got me.

Haven't written any updates recently. Dead week is officially here on campus, and like all supposedly "dead" weeks, it is anything but. But in my time between study sessions and reviews I have managed to finish reading "The Vampire Affair" by Livia Reasoner

Why Not Start with Vampires?

December 7th 2009 03:33
12/06/09- Logan Leppert here.

Nearing the one week mark in my quest. Already. Turns out I'm no cloer to my goal after the first week. Don't think I was expecting anything different. After alls, I'm sure Isaac Newton wasn't finished with the theory of gravity one week after the apple hit him. Heck, he was probably still nursing the bump

Wal-Mart Was Awkward

December 6th 2009 06:41

There was this one really famous book I read once. It was insanely popular, it sold millions of copies, but the name escapes me. It's on the tip of my tongue, but I can't quite figure it out

Well, I'm a man, and I want to write a Harlequin Romance novel
