Wizards Win the Lottery

Of all the teams to get the #1 pick in the coming draft, it had to be the one with the weirdest season of the year. No, not the Nets. Washington went from playoff hopefuls to poop in less than a season, thanks largely to Gilbert Arenas and his 'bringing guns to work' issues, followed by trading off the remainder of the talent to Dallas.

The problem is, they don't have all the luck on their side just yet. Sure, having the top pick will bring with it a little hope for the future, but cast your mind back to the last time Washington had the top pick. Kwame Brown, anyone?

The Nets finished with pick three, nothing to sneeze at really, although that all depends on who they choose, while the only playoff team to get a top 10 pick, Utah, could use the opportunity to rebuild after a poor end to a promising season.

I'll take a closer look at the draft hopefuls at a later date, although here's hoping an Aussie gets a good draft place this year. There's more out there than you might think.
