With a little help...
Well. We're still in Yokohama. Unexpected but not a bad thing by any means.
Last night was pretty rad. We found a place called American House, smack in the middle of a very touristy place in Yokohama. We got some beer.
We also scored a few shots of Drambuie there -- a bit of a surprise.
With the edge taken off, we headed to a less Disnified area of town and landed at a small upstairs joint with incredible drinks and friendly staff. It was Chris' first really Japanese drinking experience, I think. They comped for us a glass of some very stiff Shochu. Crazier still: the guy serving us had a picture of Pacific Beach up on the wall -- he's even been to Solana Beach! He's apparently a big surfer...
Fortunately, my Japanese was still sufficient to get us back to a capsule without incident.
Dopplar Cat, though, was a bit out of control.
Tonight I think we'll finally flag down my friend Liz, from JTW.
Hopefully we won't walk. Like at all. Anymore.
Other items of interest:
- Halfway through the trip: money = OH SHIT HELP PLEASE. I haven't even bought anything cool. Just food and subway fare.
- We went to Kawasaki today to find a shrine dedicated to a ... phallus. There's an accompanying vagina, but, fittingly, it was closed away.
- My paper for DiGRA2007 has been ACCEPTED! So, I need to figure out how to afford to get the fuck back here in September.
- I have now won a few items from UFO Catchers.
- Devoid of my usual poor hygeine and hyperbolic hair products, my usual crowning glory coiffure is now a miserable mop.
- From a new pack of Camel cigarrettes: "Tasty Nuts Menthol"
- I feel the effects of xenophobia more strongly this time for some reason. Is it because my language skills are dropping?
And, finally, a dorky picture:
