Winter In Summer 3 part series
March 24th 2009 03:37
Three poems I wrote this summer.
Winter In Summer (a midnight tale)
The sky is now filled
With a soft subtle grey.
It covers my world
Like a formless substance.
So tell me summer, where is you sky?
What happened to the stars
Like a glass of milk spilt upon your floor?
For all I seer is the winter's claw
Stealing your sacred night.
And it troubles my heart
That it's come down to this,
Your life has been stolen
By the soul of another.
But for now I lie watching
The lights wrapped in fog
And I'll wait for you summer,
Oh I'll wait for you yet.

Winter In Summer (a day drowned in darkness)
The thorns arise from the cracks below
As I walk the path to my dusty past.
It has been quite some time now
Since we shared this haven together.
And I ask what has happened
To my ghosts long forgotten.
Brown murky waters poisen the stream
Where we once shook up dirt with a stick.
The blackberries crawl and choke up the earth
and all the flowers have long since wiltered.
Maybe that's the reason I chose
To trudge this lonely boardwalk.
I had to know this wasn't an illusion.
And my heart...?
Devoured
By the frozen winter-like wind.
Trapped beneath the colourless sky
It's never been so easy
To forget one knew the sun.
Trying together a boquet of weeds
With a lock of my hair
I drop it now to the water's cold depths.
Farewell dead memories, I bid you farewell.

Winter In Summer (at the end of the day)
I walk along the empty road, the sun burning,
Burning through the low clouds before me
Turning the world into rich vibrant colour.
Something like a nova of the sun,
A world of searing hues. the sun dipping,
Dipping below the horizon.
Then all too quickly each colour fades
Fading into a formless mass of grey.
Fading like my strength.
My knees tremble and crumble below.
I fall to the same position
as a million other times.
Back down, face to the sky.
The clouds boil and swell over me
Grouping towards me, over me.
I feel numb. My senses have been dulled.
As I lay there my heart pulls, calls for the storm.
It responds, stretching, growing, grouping, covering.
My entire sky is now a living grey.
And as I watch, there... that moment.
That feeling of pure ecstacy in that second of horror.
That was it, the time of the day where my heart died.
Numb. Consumed by the sensation of lifelessness.
And that is the beauty of endless happiness
Found in the solace of eternal oblivion.
