Over the past number years I have seen the word terrorism thrown around very casually. Most prominent or memorable words are either Muslim Terrorists or Islamic Terrorists. After September 11, it seemed as though the entire world focused on Muslims and they were labeled as outcasts as terrorists, if you were Muslim you concealed your face and averted your gaze. There was freedom of speech, yet you couldnt just say that you were Muslim out right without feeling as though you were being judged
and much is still the same today. The past eight years have seen a revolutionary change in peoples attitude. Its not the colour of your skin, communists or Jews anymore we overcame those issues. We have a new race to hate and in the last eight years we have decided on Islam. However, when did Terrorism have a religion? Oklahoma bombings of 1995 with the two main two main conspirators, Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols along with others were Christian however I have yet to hear the words Christian Terrorists. Terrorists do not have a religion, their religion is Terror and their purpose is to spread terror. They do not belong to any religion, they do not believe in any thing and although they throw around words like holy war
there is no war that is holy. It is simply a cold blooded masscre of people who do not deserve to be slaughtered down like animals.
During 9/11 the whole world stood still with wide eyes while innoncent people lost their lives and thousands had to cope with that loss. That was just the beginning, the anthrax scare followed soon, war in Afghanistan, Strikes on Lebenon, war in Iraq,
the world slowly became desensitized to innocent people loosing their lives. People still die, people are still being killed but no one seems to care anymore. We are now in 2009 and its brought upon the holocaust of yet another Arab nation. Its Phalestine this time. Innocent civilians are still loosing their lives everyday but the world hasnt stood still
the world hasnt done anything at all. Over 800 civilians have been killed so far, more then 300 were children. 800 may seem like just a number to us but that 800 effects the lives of thousands that are linked with it. Gaza has become the living graveyard of a nation. What excuse do we have this time? Weopons of Mass destruction? Unlikley since the location of Phalestine makes it impossible for any weapons or aid to enter without the permission of Israel. So Israel is attacking a poor defenceless nation without a proper miltary and without any proper means to defend it self. The ratio of people killed are something like 10 Israeli soliders to 800 Phalestinian civilians. Where is the fairness in that?
In a day and age where we talk about Terrorism which the english dictionary defines as:
1. The use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, esp. for political purposes.
2. The state of fear and submission produced by terrorism or terrorization.
3. a terroristic method of governing or of resisting a government
Funny how I can use the same words to define what Israel is doing in Phalestines. Is Israel not a terrorist nation using violence to kill and Intimidate the people of Phalestine. And what if the tables were turned, what if it was Phalestine doing the insane killing spree? How long do you think it would taken the world to declare Phalestine a terrorsit state?
I catch the train to work everyday. It's completely packed in the mornings and if I'm ever lucky to actually get a seat I normally try to catch up on my sleep. So that's exactly what I was doing yesterday morning when I caught the train. Its never a good idea to sleep on a train, your mouth tends to fall open, you start drooling and your head keeps bouncing in all directions and then finally hangs low towards your lap. It's very very awkward not to mention the fact that it makes you look like you are suffering from downs syndrome. I'm also no sleeping beauty
far faaaar from it. However, I had 4 exams in one week which meant I lived on less then 3 hours of sleep per day; I was beyond the point of caring, I just wanted the day over and done with so I could go home and sleep. So I broke rule no. 37 of the girly girl's manual and closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.
Somewhere between Strathfeild and Redfern I came to and as I opened my eyes and checked for drool while pretending to scratch my face I noticed these shoes on the stairs. Gleaming, black, lustrous shoes that screamed for attention and spoke of the impeccable taste of the owner.
My eyes roamed up these perfect athletic endless legs clad in tailored black pants, cute butt, broad muscular shoulders in a matching black jacket, I could see white collars of a shirt peeking from underneath the jacket and then spiky brown hair. This guy had taste!!! And this was also my IDEAL MAN. Of course he had his back turned towards me so I couldn't see his "hopefully" perfect face with an angular jaw and dreamy blue eyes. But yes the chances of meeting my ideal faceless man on a crowded train when I had no make up on and was dressed like a hobo
=/
far cry from meeting him in a red dress, killer heels and smoky flirty eyes while I'm working as a sexy lounge singer in LA
dreams
.
For the rest of the journey, I stared at him while sending him telepathic messages to turn around and fall in love with me, or turn around so I can at least perve.
My psychic abilities failed me once again and he never turned around
Sigh...He got off at Townhall never to be seeen again
Moral of the story: Never sleep on a train.. Oh and always look your best.
This question has been revolving in my mind for the past few weeks or so.. Why are we attracted to.. Who we are attracted to?
Some people prefer physical attraction, some emotional, some spiritual and some unexplainable weird attraction.
For me, I think there has to be some sort of physical attraction present for you to even consider a person. I am attracted to tall, dark and handsome guys.. (typical)... so when it comes to dating I am very picky, and hence I am still single. Ive tried not liking the tall dark and handsome type, and just humouring the next short white stumpy guy who approaches me
But it doesnt work. No matter how nice the guy is, how great he treats me, I just cant seem to bring my self up to date a person who isnt my type. So I normally end up using the I dont want to loose our friendship line.
So how does attraction work? Why are we attracted to some men and not others? And probably most importantly why do our moves only work on some men and not all men?
Chemical reactions are apparently the answer. Physical appearance of a person.. Who is your type gives you the same high as would a drug. You are attracted to the pheromones the person is emitting and you automatically feel a surge of dopamine, which motivates you towards liking the person. Next comes a rush of adrenaline, which boosts your confidence levels up into approaching the person. However I would probably attribute the consumption of alcohol towards that confidence too.
But that explains the why what about the who we are attracted to? There are theories that suggest that the more we perceive a person to be our reproductive match, the more attractive that person becomes to you. So if the guy has a high sperm count and has more chances of getting you pregnant
youll find him more attractive. And errr.. YES.. Your subconscious can apparently tell you all that! And so beauty is in the eye of the beholder or perhaps the sex cells of the beholder.
As for why our moves dont work on all men. Well the guys who dont find me attractive are gay thats why!!
However, i don't know whether i believe the "repruction suitability" theory or not. I've seen some strange tastes, when it comes to attraction....
So, who are you attracted to? and why?
I spun it once again! The bottle, after it was empty. The gun represented freedom, a way to get away from it all. The syringe showed peace... an illusion
a false reality. And all that empty space... was life, empty
just like life.
After a long spin the bottle comes to an end, facing the metallic deadly magnum
cheap yet effective. An instant death once shot in the right place. I pick up the gun with trembling hands, and through chills running down my back and drops of sweat gliding down my face, I manage to place it on my forehead. The right place the sensitive spot right behind my eyebrows. The difficulty in swallowing increases just as my heart beat does, and like a slithery snake my forefinger moves towards the deadly end.. The trigger. My life flashes before my eyes like a slide show.. And when it all became so much that it nearly exploded, I managed to press the trigger.

I have never done that. I have never gone into a confession room and confessed the entire truth to a complete stranger to relieve my soul of the guilt it bears from time to time. Come to think of it, I have never really confessed the entire truth to anyone... not even my self. My parents dont have a clue what the truth is, my siblings know the entire opposite of the truth, my best friend normally knows the slightly edited versions of the truth and me? Well I make my self believe whatever looks good at the time.

So bored of routine everyday life, bored of predictable situations, Wake up at 6.00 and throw the alarm clock at the wall, shower, get dressed, Eat cereal. Get to the station and wait for the train.. late once again..catch the train and read the boring book on romance while rolling ur eyes. Get off and pretend not to hear the man playing his flute in the bitter cold.... turn up the volume of your Ipod... Get to Work and make routine carefully calculated jokes with work acquaintences, stare at files all day and pretend to get some work done while thinking about what to eat for lunch.
Go to the gym and fall in the trap of the ROUTINE work out, half an hour treadmill, one hour yoga, then catch the packed train back home standing oh so very close to the fat ugly guy you tried to get away from, smelling his breath and carefully avoiding eye contact as thats the only bit privacy you have left on the crowded train. Finally get home, change and shower then Eat the same boring dinner. Watch the news and become a little bit more scared of muslim terrorists, boogey men and man eating spiders... Get some entertainment and watch some mind numbing reality shows just so you can discuss it with work mates tomorrow, then answer that call from that friend telling you all about her routine day only to add how she she saw "that" cute guy again. Pretend to be oh so "exited" for her while muttering who the hell cares. Say good bye and fall as sleep exhausted only to repeat the entire episode tomorrow. So predictable, expected, routine, calculated, uninteresting, boring .... Is this what adult life is all about????

on Marriage rights for all have we got it all wrong
Thorns
As for the "hollywood" marriages... do u really consider them marriages or publicity stunts? You know for a fact that there is no way that these shallow self obsessed people are prepared to make the sacrifices that are required to make a marriage successful, so why kid your self. So perhaps they would be better off having a "big party". But i think for all us 'normal' people, marriage and marriage vows still holds a lot of significance for it to be called just a "party".
