Wild Flowers (Romance isn't just for the young)
April 7th 2009 15:04
Let's take our glasses off
I want to see those eyes of yours
I want to see myself through your eyes
I want to swim in your thoughts
the ones you have about me
when I think of myself, all I see is a dirty little puddle
full of oil and tyre marks from passing cars
and a Maccas wrapper floating around -
trampled by the rush of this life
people treading on me to get somewhere in a hurry
and beat me to the next red traffic light
what's the point of getting somewhere in a hurry
when you haven't got anywhere to go?
everyone's so important in their own eyes
I've never seen myself like that
it's why I'm still a child
I just want a girlfriend
someone I can pick wild flowers for
someone I can walk in the rain with
and say What a magnificent day it is
because I'm with you
I think one of the first things we'll do when we meet is walk the streets in the rain and I'll just pick flowers for you. I'll smother you in flowers. We can kiss like young lovers and forget how old we both are. Romance isn't just for the young.

My original comment ot this poem was . . .quite . . poetic I think, it was certainly heartfelt.
After saying something profound, I tried to pick out my favourite lines and chose these;
the ones you have about me
At this point I seem to remember saying something about the image created by these words made me feel young again, just thinking about such a wonderful expereince, even if I never actually have the pleasure in this lifetime.

Well some of us lose a lot of years for one reason or another. But not our memories.
I still remember what romance was like.
