Why The Jets Will Not Play Tebow
November 15th 2012 00:48
Many people will say that the Jets could not be any worse with Tebow at the helm instead of Sanchez, which is simply not true. Tebow is not a good player or even a quarterback at all. He struggles to read defenses and can not throw a spiral. But the reason for him not playing this year is much deeper and much more complex than his inability to play the position.
Rex Ryan is a prideful man, too a point that hurts the team. At the beginning of the year he said that Sanchez was his qb, and he will stick to that no matter what the costs are, even if that is his job. Two good examples of this happening before was with fullback John Conner and wide receiver Plaxico Buress. John Conner was never fir for the system and was not good, but he was Ryan's player and he stuck with him no matter how bad he was, he was eventually released and now they are stuck with Lex Hillard. The reason Ryan wanted Plaxico was because he saw some tape on him before he was in jail. This guys whole coaching career is filled with mistakes, but even he will not make the mistake of starting Tebow.
The other factor is that they just signed Sanchez to a contract extension over the summer. Benching him would not only be a waste of money but also they would be admitting Sanchez was a mistake. This whole franchise is about to become unhinged and starting Tebow would be the thing to unhinge it. Many players have said that they could not win with Sanchez as the qb and i agree with that. Sanchez might not be the qb that they need but neither is Tebow.
