Why paedophile Mclellan is a major risk to our civil rights.

Watching the unfolding situation with the self confessed paedophile in California I can't help but sit and wonder if he is just the start of something bigger and something that we need to be very wary of. I fear that he will be the kind of spark that is the beginning of the normalization of his kind of perverted behaviour.
As in all civil rights movements they start with the smallest action from one person. However there are some lines in this society that should not ever be crossed. His attraction to underage (prepubescent) girls is one of them. This man is setting some very dangerous precedents to which the public need to be aware of. He, in my mind, seems to be setting himself up as someone who has "come out of the closet" in regards to his proclivities which is on the borderline of very brave or very stupid. It possibly tells others that "Hey maybe it's okay to feel this way". We are on very thin ice. Very thin.
His not only being attracted to children but bragging through blogs about it is most troubling because I get the feeling that he is pushing the limit of free speech and his actions recently only serve to strengthen those who are of like mind. There is nothing dignified or appropriate in being attracted to little girls whether he says he plan to molest them or not. This man also claims to have depression so as to have some kind of justification for his actions. This is not just a simple case of depression but he certainly does have a mental illness of some kind. There is a very strong case for not only him, but others like him, for chemical castration. Not prison but chemical castration.
I am of the belief if you go to prison you lose certain privileges. Prison is not a hotel. It is a matter of punishment as well as rehabilitation for those who can be rehabilitated. There are those like the paedophile are not likely to change from any kind of incarceration or rehabilitation. They have these urges which they can't or won't control. Unfortunately there has been little that the law has been able to do to stop him. The thing is that here is a man who has been taken off the internet and has had a restraining order against him, now he's behind bars for violation of said restraining order. That doesn't help him and it doesn't help us simply because his mind is sick. If he walks out of that prison tomorrow or next week or in ten years he still has the same mind he had when he went in.
I'm sure in time that some group like the ACLU will come to his rescue because his liberties have been breached in some way shape or form. If the ACLU are in the right sense of mind they wouldn't touch this case with a 100 foot pole.
Undoubtedly he isn't the first who is pushing for the normalization of his disgusting behaviour but we as a community need to make sure that he and others like him are dealt with effectively and quickly to make sure that our children are to remain safe.
