Why is no one listening to Joe Biden?
November 30th 2007 04:10
I have been watching the US political debates off and on and for some reason it seems there are only two people in both the Republican and Democratic races on both sides. That is a real shame. On the Democratic side of the fence I don't know if it's the novelty of having people who are neither white nor male which gets them attention, or they have the answers that the Americans are looking for. Either way it seems to be working. Both Clinton and Obama have the lead whilst the others seem to bring up the rear. neither seem particularly impressive to me because we've heard it all before throughout the generations. To me they are just spraypainted middle aged white guys who are hiding underneath different disguises.
So here's my suggestion. Instead of giving it people who say they're different from the "white male" power hierarchy, but are only separated by skin colour and the lack of genitalia (I include Hillary in that too) why not just give it to the real deal? The way I see it if Hillary goes up against Giuliani/Romney there would be a swing against her to either one of her opponents. Poor Barack will just get whipped simply because Americans aren't grown up enough to accept someone other than a white middle aged male as Commander-in-Chief.
Which brings me to Senator Biden. He strikes me as a man who knows how to get things done. It doesn't need a novice or someone who flip-flops on issues. Not at this time. Bidens work in the senate shows that he has the experience and the heart. Beginning in 2009 at the start of the next Presidents term, the US is going to need someone who has to call on all of their experience to deal with major issues that this current administration has dug it's grave on.
Biden's leadership style and his resume impress me. He has to be the most underrated candidate on either side. he seems to have more of a Presidential manner to him than any one else running. But again no one seems to be listening. They're focussed on Hillary and Barack. The media have whipped themselves into a frenzy over two candidates who will in time show themselves to be weak and ineffectual. Saying and doing are two different things. Then again I have been very easily impressed before by people who have ended up failing miserably.
He has been in the senate for a good length of time to know how things work and how to get them to work. I watch him on the debates and to me he makes sense. The problem is no ones listening. Except for me. And I don't count simply because I am not (nor ever will be a US citizen). I, being me, am just sticking my humble little nose into where it doesn't really belong.
Americans need to wake up and start looking at the issues and the people who speak clearly about them. Lets keep gender and race out of this. Lets just play the ball and not the man (again including Hillary). If we did that then someone like Joe Biden may have more of a chance in a field that historically was stacked for him, now it's stacked against him.
