Why do you Tweet?
February 14th 2010 07:04
Another social networking site that has made an appearance of late Twitter allows you to follow other peoples tweets and tweet yourself, you can reply to them and repost and everything, it's pretty much Facebook without the annoying applications and the wall and stuff.
It's pretty basic, I have joined it and I do not see the massive deal I barely ever use it only when I want to read what is going on or when someone has decided to follow me on there. I remember the days when everyone was getting themselves a Myspace and now it seems that Myspace is dying a slow and painful death and Facebook is striving forward but the Twitter revolution has become the most annoying.
Even the new AAMI Insurance Ads are talking about tweeting, everywhere you go someone is trying to plug twitter, from Channel Nines Cricket, to the wrestling to anything. But why do you tweet? Are you more of a tweeter or a facebooker? I have to say I am more a facebook kind of person, I do not really pay all that much attention to anything but Facebook now, all the people I want to talk to are there and if I want to blog I can always blog here or post a note and pretend that is a personal blog.
Myspace still has it's charm because you can make your blogs private you can customise your profile to whatever you like, for example I have mine customised with a Collingwood layout which looks pretty good actually. I have managed to keep the same two layouts on there for the last 4 years and have been asked to make a new one, make it more interesting.
I tweet mainly because I randomly read other tweets from the news, wrestling, and other stuff but a lot of it now is on facebook so I just become a fan on Facebook and I am able to be updated in whatever I want there. Admittedly i only joined these social networking sites because I was asked to join them I had no desire before getting the invite to ever join.
Now I seem to be hooked on Facebook, which I suppose I will blog one day, right now I am still a member Twitter and I will still check it but I am not a massive tweeter unless I am really wanting to tell people on there about something in the start on there I was very interested but that interest waned and I am no longer a tweeter. But maybe Twitter will grow on me, facebook and myspace did, and forums did so there is a chance for it to survive in my regular internet rotation.
