Working Title - by Hazel Castillo

Just like movies filming... my life has a working title. ss_blog_claim=0495ff3fbd2eb63185104629064ee6a0

Why do you blog?

I came about Orble while reading another blog from the more internationally famous blog server -- BLOGSPOT/BLOGGER. I started blogging about 6 years or so ago on this server and enjoyed the thought that I can write a journal online and have potential strangers read my thoughts and opinions, even what I've done for the day.

I love blogging because when you have no one else to talk to or just too bored to talk to other people you usually talk to, blogging gives you that other outlet which can still give you interaction only on a different interface. Which is actually, perfect for me.

I love writing, I love words, I don't claim I'm so good at it, I just love reading or writing words which is why I could hardly care how much readers I get, I just write and kept on it.

I would blog on and off depending on what's in my hands at the moment. Obviously when I became a new mom while working on a promotion -- blogging was left to rut for a while. Then I got back on track, but then another promotion was up and that meant my life would be even busier after the promotion so I slowed down again but not as rotten as my first "downtime"

I was blog-hopping my regulars including Toni's/WYS (of Storyfever.com) blogger site when she introduced her blog at orble. I got interested -- so much! I don't even know why I got so interested. I'm sure it wasn't the google ads, to be quite honest, I wasn't a fan of those ads, they got me off track or make me lose my momentum when reading something interesting. So Orble worked its powers effortlessly on me and I signed up right away!

Shortly I learned that this site wasn't even blocked from work (tee hee!) which makes it greater coz sometimes I get ideas while working that I can't wait to write down because I might forget about it -- which is why I hit that rut with blogger before.

I'm not sucking up to Orble but I do enjoy it a lot here, it is indeed a mini community and it keeps my brain working. With my work, my brain gets its momentary rots especially since I've been with this company and account for 5 years -- know it like the back of my hand. I am thankful I found orble where I can blog even from work (I hope they won't block it! hahah)

So there you go, I blog because I simply enjoy writing and reading words. I could care less for google ads paying me (they are but not that much hahah).

What about you, why do you blog??

Like you I blog just for the pure pleasure of writing something. I may not be great at it but it clears the cobwebs and is always a bit of fun. I guess there is also the little thrill that comes from knowing someone has read something that you have written.

true that!

it also helps that somehow we can get paid.

nice seeing you here Cheryl.

i wanted to get into the habit of writing more regularly and orble kind of makes it like a game where you get rewarded for contributing blogs and comments regularly

the feedback motivates me, and the traffic stats, just knowing its not a waste of my time, even if just one person reads it

and the more i read other peoples blogs the more i get writing ideas for my own articles and posts . . . its like keeping your finger on the pulse of issues that interest the wider community, and since ive been living in a remote location ive really enjoyed the interaction

Mostly I blog because I see issues that I find interesting or have strong opinions on, and I wonder what other people think. It's good to get feedback from people you don't know, because it's generally honest. I also don't get to stretch my brain quite the way I would like through my job, so this helps in that department very much.

Plus it never hurts to practice writing continually. Good question

MORGAN: ah! I cannot agree more with that. Orble kinda makes it like a game where you are rewarded for it... and if you lag on your postings, they hit you up on it

WINSTON: your blogname/title says it all huh? Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this question

Nice seeing you both here and keep on writing!

I've been here almost a year and I'd say what I like is the fact that the people ARE nice. Feedback may not pay the rent but DAMN! I like it! And it gives a sense of satisfaction as words and pictures come together to fill up a page.

I originally was drawn to a seek ad - I really wanted to write for my daily bread and thought blogging might be the go.

Ive been here over a year....I think Ive made 9 bucks?

What addicted me was I could create a new artistic medium - a post is not like writing anything else - so I can combine my poetry and sketches with things Im passionate about, and like you, just crap on about my day and any nasty stuff in my head.

Ive found it really inspiring - blogging out junk clears my head for the good stuff and I love getting feedback from people about my work. I have found Orble to be just that bit more intelligent than other communities - people can actually review my work in an objective way and advise me constructively.

Its helping me grow everyday and I love it to death...Particularly Orble!

Nice seeing new people around here

JAMES: true (i just keep agreeing with almost every comment! hehe), but very true! The people ARE INDEED nicer around here. It is sort of a "worldwide neighborhood".

KLEONAPTRA: I'm not sure if you've tried other blog servers but I know I would get ocassional spam comments on my blogger which is just not nice, plus the haters... at least everyone here will say what they need to say but because it's like a sort of "schooL" type, we get rewarded in form of KARMA... so no-one gives BS comments or just hate comments.

we can get criticism but they're all helpful.

Very interesting thoughts

Hello,

I've just signed up and only because a blogging pal suggested it. I was having a whinge about the show that is my blog topic so she said 'don't tell me, tell the web"!

Hello there Miss Ty. (love the name by the way)

Welcome to Orble and the blogging world!

Your friend's quite right though, when you want to rant or rave about something it's best to put it out to the world (wide web!) hahah

If you want friends and family to hear you out, you can simply ask them to visit your sites anyway so it's a lot of feedback. It's like having a group of friends all the time in the blogging world.

I hope you enjoy it here!

Just wanted to mention, dont be so sure! It does happen here(as well as out and out wars) but I try and stay well away from it - I never write anything political(okay maybe once) just because its not what my blog is for, but some people here seem constantly embroiled in conflict. Ive had unsavouries on my blog too.

But I agree that for the most part Orble has that real classroom feel, where everyones learning and helping each other. Its nice.
12. April 4th 2008 @ 14:34. Hazel Castillo Says:
Kleo: I just remembered now, yeah I've seen a few blogs with some not so friendly comments. But yeah, it's all going to depend on you and what you write about or at least how you present it.

I stay away from anything political as much as possible too.

Same here, I blog because I love to write and share what I've learned or discovered with others. I also like reading what other bloggers have to say.

Hello Hope, nice seeing you here.

Seems universal that most people who really read and write blogs are those who love writing their opinions and sharing with others. I think it's somewhat natural to human beings to want to be heard.

For the cash.
18. April 8th 2008 @ 11:22. Hazel Castillo Says:
ahhh see! Pat's the one example we haven't gotten here so far. Thanks for the honesty Pat.

I have no idea how much you can earn from blogging still I just have no patience to read and completely understand adsense and all the other money paying schemes for blogs out there.

nice seeing you here though.

Where closeness in concerned, I know this may sound dumb but, there are people on here I feel closer to than some of the people I work with! We don't do the chat thing or send emails every day but I feel like they have my back!

That being said, if I can do anything for YOU gimme a holler!
20. April 9th 2008 @ 07:24. Hazel Castillo Says:
True to a community huh? True for me where I first started blogging, and we became very close friends that I sent them stuff for their kids or themselves for Christmas last year

I'm hoping to have the same relationship in this new community

Thanks James, very interesting!

I blog because it's a place for me to practice my writing as well as put down any initial ideas for a bigger picture

ah, the more serious writer
23. July 20th 2008 @ 20:03. Wayne Tully Says:
I blog to write, but also as a stepping stone to something else in life I suppose, I feel I have more to give than, just being a regular guy with a regular job, I like to inform and help people out online and even offline.

Blogging for me is a way to organize all of my favourite content that I love to write about and presenting it to an audience who may like to read it.
24. July 20th 2008 @ 23:57. Hazel Castillo Says:
I'm surprised people still find this post!

Well Wayne, blogging is indeed a channel for all of us to either express feeliing or do something bigger or share something to the readers.

It's nice to read these things, coz nowadays some people or maybe even a majority of bloggers really blog more for the money than the experience or those reasons we have written

Nice seeing you here Wayne.
