Who is part of your family? What do you talk about?
October 26th 2006 21:53
Do you live alone?
Do you live with Mum, Dad, Sisters, Brothers?
Do you live with your husband, wife?, partner?
Do you have children?
Do they live with you?
What are the ages of those in your family?
Shy about being specific? Just give a range.
Do you like your family?
Where are grandma, grandpa? Are they computer literate?
How computer literate are you?
How much talking do you do?
What do you talk about?
Would you like to talk more/less?
Do you have meals together?
Do you have health problems?
Do you think your family is functional?
Do you like your living circumstances?
What is your view of the ideal family?
Do you love them and do they love you?
Do you have anything to say about conversation in the family?
WHO is your family, and WHAT do you talk about?, tell me more, please!
I shall respond to all your comments and may even come and visit you, virtually, so to speak.
DO TELL - it's all confidential.

Medicinal Nature
First, we are Christians...
I have a husband 2 children a dog, 2 cats, a turtle, & a bird.
my daughter is 16 (yikes) and my son is 9
we talk about kid things mostly... tonights discussion was when we would be having our next food fight to which I responded to my children, "well, it's not the holidays yet... but soon."
My grandfathers are dead, one was an admiral in the Navy the other was in the Airforce.
One grandmother is alive and lives with my aunt, and my other grandmother I took care of by her side until she passed away a few years ago. I got trained by the hospice because she didn't want to leave her home or die in a hospital some where...
Usually though our family discussions are confined to talking our children through their personal crisises and struggles and what we can do to help others.
Whew! Was that along the lines of what you wanted? Neat pics by the way.... really.

It was absolutely wonderful and inspiring, you sound like you folks have really got it all together and are very loving caring people
I was thrilled to have such a good response, but anything people have to say is a good response in my book.
I do hope this will encourage a few others, have a go at the Computer Art yourselves some time, if nothing else, you'll laugh together.

In my experience, most families do not communicate enough with each other, including mine. It just seems to be the way the world is going, unfortunately.
Personally, I live with one husband (any more would just be too much to deal with), two and a bit children (yes, I'm pregnant) and nine fish. And as soon as I finish here I need to go and clean the fish tank then make my son some toast for lunch. The cat from next door seems to think she lives here too, I think she's just a little bit lonely, poor thing.
My children, three and seven years old, are the most important things in my life and I make a point, each evening, to make a meal we can all enjoy together (sitting at a table, no less!).
My mum and dad live on the other side of the world in England but thankfully they are computer literate and I send emails and we have computer chats as much as possible.
I like your computer art and I like your thought provoking questions so don't stop talking about talking and I'll come back to visit soon.

Thank you for your wonderful comments. Yes, I feel even those families who talk to one another don't really communicate well and difficult issues often get swept under the carpet. Yes, I'm guilty, as charged.
I rally like hearing about your family. I was just a little disturbed that Puss (from next door) rather liked the look of the fish) A count before and after cleaning might be helpful.
What disturbed me even more was the thought of lunch, would you have fish on toast, do you think?.
Oh, dear, yes, I shall wash my mouth out with soap.
I was delighted to hear your views and news. I'll be looking forward to hearing about the new one. My children are overseas, and, regrettably, we don't seem to be a close family.
I was determined to raise independent children, I guess I got more than I bargained for.
Still, I like to think we were close while they were growing up.
This seems to have turned into confession and I'm not even a Catholic.
It was great to hear from you. Continue to enjoy what I do as I enjoy hearing from you.

Our friendly neighbour (of the four legged variety) does wander into our house every-so-often and takes a sneaky look at the fish as she wanders past. However, like all decent, self-respecting felines, she seems to turn her nose up at our goldfish, preferring instead to hide away under one of the children's beds.
As to fish on toast ... I'm not sure exactly how good goldfish would taste. Might just open a tin of tuna instead.
It's difficult to be as close as you'd like to your family when they're overseas, I know. Sometimes I wish I could live closer to my mum and enjoy again the relationship I used to have with her, before I moved over here to Australia.
Maybe one day I'll go back, who knows.

I was very moved by your response. Thank you.
As regards puss from next door, try talking to her, she hides under the bed, fearing you'll kick her out.'
Glad you took fish on toast in good spirits.
She likes it at your place so put out the welcome mat and cats can be taught quite easily how to behave, just talk and demonstrate, she'll respond. Cats are very intelligent. You're right she probably is lonely.
See you next time.

Responding to this post though the post is more than 5 months old.
We are a nuclear family of 2 1. My daughter is 9 years old. Generally my husband does not talk. He just responds to my questions. (Introvert type). His office keeps him busy for most of the time. He does bring in loads of money (which helps as with it my daughter and myself can shop
We do love each other but our conversations are limited to our daughter.
Both our parents are in our respective native places and we keep in touch mainly through telephone and mobile.
That is the way it is and that is the way it will be

Really useful comment.
I understand what you are saying but I think if you gently try connecting with your husband a little more, tell him something interesting or ask him something a little different from usual, or perhaps tune into his feelings a little more, then expect just a little reciprocation you may find your relationship a little more satisfying although it sounds like you manage your life very well and are smart enough to be rather free of financial worries, it seems.
If you follow me under mspaintart, you'll find I put articles on from time to time dealing with family issues, all will not apply to you but you may find some things of interest.
Meanwhile, happy blogging and it was good to have your visit and to hear about your family.
I'm divorced, many years, and our communication could have been a lot better.
