Sir Alex Ferguson has $160 million burning a hole in his back pocket and no one to spend it on. Manchester Utd are desperate to strengthen their squad after superstar Ronaldo left to sign for Real Madrid in what was a world record transfer deal. Ferguson wants to bring French international striker Karim Benzema as well as Franck Ribery to the club, but it looks like he will miss out on both with Benzema ready to sign for Barcelona and Real Madrid sporting director Zinedine Zidane confirming that the club is in discussions with Ribery.
On top of Ronldo's departure it looks as if Carlos Tevez could be on his way as well as Dimitar Berbatov who has been a big dissapointment since his big money move from Tottenham. This will leave Wayne Rooney as the only recognised striker and with not much talent upfor grabs around the world it looks like Manchester Utd could be in for a lean year.
