Who Am I?
April 29th 2008 00:59
I'm a huge sports fan.
By nature I'm a pretty quiet guy but if you get me talking about sports (especially if I've had a few) I can rant with the best of them. I love to argue about sports (to the chagrin of many of my closest friends and family). I love to write and read about sports. If I affiliated myself with a religion, Bill Simmons would be my Pope.
I've been known to watch baseball, football, basketball, soccer, hockey, boxing, darts, curling, arm wrestling, the world series of dominoes, but no, not cricket. It is with little hesitation however, that I can say that Baseball is my first love. I can remember the first World Series I watched on TV (Braves/Twins in '91). The day after the Subway Series ended in 2000 I was so depressed I couldn't go to school (I also would have run the risk of getting expelled for assaulting a Yankee fan or two). My mother dreads the start of the baseball season because she's gotten so tired of me yelling at the television, "if you can't control yourself you won't be able to watch" she says. If that doesn't strike you then remember the fact that I'm 23 years old.
I'm also a devout New Yorker, so forgive me if I sprinkle Keith Hernandez into everyday conversation. At this point you can probably see why I've started this blog. Mostly it's because I need somewhere to vent, and if I don't find an outlet I might get fired from my job.
It's my hope that this site is filled with passion, humor, and just the right amount of intelligent insight about sports.
