When will It End

January 11th 2008 13:39
I want to know when the war is going to end. Not the one in Iraq but the war in Kosovo and North Korea. I can't believe we are technically still at war with North Korea. Not a lot of people stil know that. Also when are our troops going to come home from Kosovo. I don't think it is still a hotspot. Is anyone paying attention to those soldiers and why did a former President give nuclear arms to a country we are still at war with (north korea)? Makes you wonder.

Onto upcomming elections. Did you know that in Florida its not just a primary. We are voting on lowering our property taxes. So everyone needs to vote. If you want them lower or higher vote. See this is what I don't understand who gets that money the state, county or city you live in. The city I live in they are thinking about eliminating them all together. Interesting.

The city I live in does not have a very good mayor by the way. .....

Well its almost time for me to go to the gastro...I think they are going to schedule a colonoscopy. Thank goodness we don't have universal health care, because if we did I would have to wait two years for my regular colonoscopy...

Health Care...It sounds like you are trying to compare apples and oranges. Sounds like you are under the impression that Universal Health Care is the same as Socilaized Health Care...totally different.

Single payer universal health care is not socialized medicine. It is health care payment system, not a health care delivery system. Health care providers would be in fee for service practice, and would not be employees of the government, which would be socialized medicine. Single payer health care is not socialized medicine, any more than the public funding of education is socialized education, or the public funding of the defense industry is socialized defense.

So...if you are on insurance now, it is highly likely it is through your employer/spouse's employer. Universal really wouldn't be much different...it would be like changing insurance.

Right now, you are supporting/are in favor of a world where corporations are able to buy politicians through our campaign finance system and control the media to convince people that corporate health care is democratic, represents freedom, and is the most efficient system for delivering health care. So what happens to people like us (average to middle income familes...and by the way...middle is now considered 100k...so most of people are just average income or less) is we pay for our private care/private insurance and then through taxes we pay for a system that provides services to those who make less money than we do and contribute less.

Trust me...if you look at the big picture, the ideal end result is going to be you participate in the program or you just pay for medical expenses from your own pocket. Just like anything else...someone has to go to extremes to make a broken system better...and yes the current system (known as managed care) is broken. Health care has become so expensive that outcome studies on a variety of diseases, such as coronary artery disease, and renal failure show the United States to rank below Canada and a wide variety of industrialized nations.

It must become more affordable or it needs to change. As long as private industry insists on profits beyond your imagination, they will continue to do whatever is needed to brainwash you. Change is always scary, especailly if you really don't fully understand what the proposed changed is. That's what these companies do, they use the media to create fear. You are being controlled by fear. I hope this encourages you to dig further. Remember, we have the children of today to be concerned about. The current system might work for us (barely), but what about generations to come?

I do get my insurance through my husbands employer. We pay nothing for it. I am well versed on the differnece and I have been involved with groups that talk about the different countries and how poor they are. If you have a medical condition it is next to impossible to be on the universal health care plan. Here is another little known fact. In countries that have universal health care. People can opt out for private insurance.

As stated in orginal comment, in the proposed plan you can opt for private solutions.

What you currently enjoy, health care at minimal to no cost, is exactly th goal for everyone else in the country.

As far s being involved with groups....it is human nature to gravitate towards people that share the same views.

You just don't seem to get the point. It is no different the feds making sure the gas station down the street doesn't overcharge for gas.

1.Universal Health means families without insurance can get affordable insurance (but then again, you would only care about that if you lost your insurance)
2.Those who already have insurance will pay less and get more security and choices (you wouldn't care about this unless you had to start paying for your insurance)
3.Businesses and other employers will find it cheaper and easier to insure their workers. (which means more opportunity for people to make more money at work, which means more money spent, which means better economy instead of current insurance carriers pocketing so much profit).

Do yourself a favor and look at the average amount of money per minute or hour being PROFITED by let's say...United Health Care...they are one of the largest providers....then it will make sense...it is about getting something outrageous under control...but if you are going to base your opinions on personal situation rather than you fellow human Amerincans that speaks volumes of how small your world is in comparison to the mature educated citizens witih long term visions for our country, our children and our children's children.

And do you think that large insurance companies ever deny coverage...think again. Once they start reaching large amounts paid out in benefits, the rules of the game change...and I'm talking about serious health issues here. Based on your post I'm sure you have a very difficult situation...but nothing close to what others deal with.

If you read Hillarys plan you can not opt out. That is what I have a problem with. I don't think you are as informed as you thought. She is a facist who wants us to be a community for the whole and not the individual

I don't think can comprehend as as well as you thought you could...I didn't say was in favor of HILLARY's plan. I am not a supporter of Hillary at all. She is not the only person with Universal Care ideas and it is not only presidential canidates that have these ideas. Broaden your horizons...I never even mentioned her. I'm not sure calling her a fascist is really accurate...unless you are referring to the literal translation which is "union"...then we would all be fascists...but most people associate with the likes of Mussolini and Hitler and their horrible actions. The reality is that your situation is not the norm and you have to ask yourself what kind of system you would want available to you if you weren't blessed with your current insurance situation. Many of us pay hundreds of dollars a month for insurance for our families...that doesn't include the co pays and dedcutibles that go alolng with it. I actually pay around $500 a month for a family of 4. Currently the only way to get somewhat affordable healthcare is to be very poor. The point that I'm trying to make here is that there is no balance in the healthcare system whcih has lead to a decrease in the overall health of our fellow Americans compared to 30 years ago before all the advancements in medicine.

It is about a program that will allow for balance, choice and affordability and we are more than one 4 year term away from that, but each term can bring us closer if we all refuse to allow the state of insurance and health be controlled by those that have the money to lobby...which are the ones that currently hold the calls. Do you know, that not all insurance companies can do business in alll states...why do you think that is? Because those who lobby the most and with the most money win, mkaing the market less competitive so it continues to be an expensive need. Broaden your view beyond your situation...you are enjoying a form Unversal Health care right now...it is at the expense of an employer...but someone does pay the price somewhere...less wages, co-pays, or dedcutibles.

Don't let bad candidates with varied strategy cloud your view. There is more than one way to approach Universal Care.

If you can opt out than I am in favor, but what happens to all of the people who use it like welfare. There are people who will abuse the systerm just like everything else. People need to take care of themselves. I do agree that the cost of healthcare is out of control but that has to be take care of at a different level.
