Whats the deal with politically correct work names?

Anyone who has read any of my blogs (which may have reached at least 5 by now) would realize I'm a straight up and down guy who doesn't really take to pop culture or the use of politically correct language. I find it ridiculous that people have become so sensitive to the fact of who they are.
One time it was okay to be who and what you are. Now that we're in an age of political correctness it is no longer okay to be seen as fat, bald, short, old, or anything that may seem to downgrade or denigrate you personally or your profession. I guess I can understand that a "financial controller" may be a head accountant but calling a garbage collector a sanitation engineer or a gas station attendant a petroleum transfer technician is pushing it.
Now I bring all of that up because I saw an advertisement in the paper for a "sandwich artist". A sandwich artist!!? What is that? Have we become so sensitive to people that butter two slices of bread, slap on meat, tomatoes and lettuce that they now prefer to be known as "sandwich artists"? Where is the art in making a sandwich exactly? I have to be honest I used to be sceptical regarding baristas (you know the people who make coffee) but apparently they even have their own world championships so I have to give credit where credit is due.
I'll wait with baited breath for the sandwich artist world championships. I'd love to see how seductive someone can make a lettuce and cheese sandwich.
