What's Next?

So now that Philadelphia has garnered a 2-1 series lead over Detroit, what's next? I think what's clear is that Detroit needs to change their gameplan. Flip Saunders' strategy has cost Detroit dearly. On defense, they've suffocated Andre Iguodala all series, and he's struggled. However, is Iguodala worth doubling? As good as Iguodala is, by all means he is no offensive powerhouse. Too inconsistent, a very questionable jump shot. And with all that extra attention, who's hurting Detroit? Samuel Dalembert? 22 points?!? Reggie Who? Detroit is leaving these Sixers open, and are getting hurt for it. On offense, throughout the series Detroit's perimeter game has struggled, especially that of Chauncey Billups. Look for Flip Saunders to possibly draw up more plays inside the paint, to Rasheed Wallace. This accomplishes several things for Detroit, namely changing the tempo of the game. Playing a grind-it-out, half court style prevents Philadelphia from running. Detroit needs to dictate the tempo to win this series. With the added attention to the interior, this will allow the perimeter game to open up for Detroit later in the game, helping out players such as Billups. For Philadelphia, on the offensive end, try to open up the floor somehow for Iguodala. Relying on Sammy Dalembert to score 22 and Reggie Evans to continue to provide offense off the bench is risky at best. On defense? Keep on keeping on. The pressure Philadelphia has applied throughout the series was key in winning games 1 3, the result of the pressure being fast-break points. My game 4 prediction? Look for Detroit to bounce back in a close game.
