What They're Saying: Jermaine Gresham
May 29th 2010 11:36
There's plenty of buzz surrounding former OU all-purpose tight end Jermaine Gresham. Even though a knee injury sidelined him for his senior season, Gresham displayed great performances at the combine and was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals.
And already the striped fans are excited about the void that he will fill for the Bengals: a need for a fast and strong TE who can block as well.
An unofficial Cincinnati Bengals blog, "Cincy Jungle", is helping contribute to that buzz. This move cites that a pick in Gresham signifies a move toward for power football for Cincy. It talks about how having a big, wide target like Gresham out there in the red zone and on third-downs would take a lot of pressure off the shoulders of QB Carson Palmer. The blog warns that other teams will have to go the extra mile to watch him, which will open things up for a stacked receiving corps.
Also, current TE Reggie Kelly has taken Gresham under his wing somewhat, according to the Cincinatti Enquirer.
The basic idea is that Gresham has a lot of potential and a lot of room to really improve this team. Good to know he's being well-received over there! Take care Jermaine and thanks for the memories.
