What the…was that
January 20th 2008 15:18
Like a lot of people this weekend I was invited to Rob’s party starting around midnight on Thursday January 17. Rob was off to Japan. What excitement. Some survived, some didn’t. If you want to know all that happened check out Cloverfield ASAP.
There was a lot of hype for this film. It was almost to the point where I thought it would suck. There were mixed reviews from those among the crowd and friends. Rob’s buddy Hud was filming with a video camera the whole time. Anything he was filming was what we got to see.
The camera was shaking the whole time and his attention wasn’t always on what you wanted to see. There was a good amount of girls talking while he was filming their chest or he was filming someone more interesting across the room. It is shown through his actions and what others say that he barely knows how to work the camera. But he does get at least 2 amazing shots that might make you jump out of your seat.
The last time I saw camera jiggling work so well was on the 1993-1999 TV series Homicide: Life on the Streets. I always liked the way that was shot because it lent to the action of what was going on just like the camera does for Cloverfield. Like the TV show some really like this camera trick and others thought it was really irritating.
Cloverfield was actually better than I expected. I am ready to go see it again to catch anything I might have missed. There was one part that was predictable, but I watch so much Sci-Fi it is difficult to completely surprise me. “A”
