What is your perspective on clouds?
When I was at school I loved Geography. I loved learning about the Earth and how everything was created, what it was made up of and why certain events occured. When it came to clouds? No clue... I could never understand how names could be applied to something that was ever-changing. How could you look at a single cloud and apply a group name to it? As a result I have never mastered the whole cloud thing. In one day these were the different clouds that I captured....

Love the cloud pics.
My husband (who has studied meteorology) can name all his clouds ... I, on the other hand, don't feel the need.
Clouds are just clouds to me. Beautiful, ever-changing and wet!

This is uncanny. I had just read an article in the Sunday newspaper supplement about how watching clouds can be good for you.....I kid you not.
I like clouds best when I'm on top of them.
Not just floating on them in my mind...but sitting in a plane on top of a blanket of fluffiness...
...oh....and at sunset....fairy floss....
I love the last image and of course 'Eye of The Dragon'.
I'm singing 'Cloudbusting' (Kate Bush)....

I spent many hours reading the children's book "Looks Like Spilt Milk' to my son. This story captures the imagination of cloud interpretation through the eyes of a child. During our travels we would make stories up about the clouds we saw. Great pics, poetry, and post!

When I became a man ;...; oops, sorry, I meant a photographer, I loved clouds, especially from the Harbour. Wonderful pleasure, sheer delight and at sunset, all this and fairy floss too.
I could eat them.

I agree...I cannot understand how clouds can be named. I can tell you about caldera`s and delta`s and Trade Winds... ask me about clouds and I have no idea, never could do it..
ditto
thanks for your comment

Not just floating on them in my mind...but sitting in a plane on top of a blanket of fluffiness...

I completely fell in love with the idea of clouds being like spilled milk... spilled across the sky... is that why they call it the Milky Way? Beautiful...
my sisters and I used to do this... in fact I still love making pictures from the clouds. I agree with the article Dusk read... it is good for you to study the clouds.

ah yes they are a photographers paradise aren`t they? that`s the great thing about Winter... the sky makes for such amazing sunsets and the cloud formations are stunning. You have very different clouds here in Aus than we got in Africa and the ones I saw in Europe. Amazing how they change from place to place.

I dance for them : and sometimes they dance for me.
By Batlight and Moonlight : they entice me.
In a Storm : they frighten and excite me.
I don't mind : as long as they keep coming to gather.

When we take road trips, we play "I spy in the sky"... a game where one of us spots a cloud that looks like something, and then everyone else tries to find the same cloud before it morphs into something else.
Like Dusk, I love the feeling of literally being on top of the clouds... looking at them from an airplane window.
I seem to be more moved by angry clouds than playful clouds on spiritual levels. When the sky is dark and dauting, so am I. But those can also be my most creative times.
The worst clouds? Green clouds... those are the tornadic kind.
Amazing pics. Sorry I'm tardy. *winks*

ooooh I like that game!
I remember a while ago I was flying somewhere in Africa and this lady sitting next me to leaned over and said, 'Excuse me what is that outside the window? I have never flown before.' I thought it sad that someone could not connect the two together. I said to her, 'This is what the top of the clouds looks like. It is like the world is upside down don`t you think?' She never replied but the rest of the journey she just stared out the window in absolute amazement. I love it too, it`s like we are on a boat, sailing on a white sea....
I agree... it`s like the beach isn`t it? The weather ... the earth ... is a great tickler of the emotions
green clouds? wow that would be something to see, although I would leave before the tornado....
thanks Wendi

I reckon it should stay like that! No fun when you have to think of the names of them. The only one I remember are storm clouds are Cumulonimbus and have a flat base and anvil head.... the rest? Just could not get them stuck in my head!

Apparently you can buy and name a star....bit of a bummer if you choose one that has already burnt out! I would do something like that ... day after I named it and it disappears
