Flashes of memories - MUGABE MUST GO!!! ZIMBABWEANS NEED THEIR HOME BACK

There are as many nights as days, and the one is just as long as the other in the year's course. Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word 'happy' would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness - Carl Jung To be at one with God is to be at peace ... peace is to be found only within, and unless one finds it there he will never find it at all. Peace lies not in the external world. It lies within one's own soul. - Ralph Waldo Trine

What is your favourite time of day?

In our busy lives there is little time that we actually get to ourselves, however it is so important to take a few minutes out of each day that we can devote only to us, me, I, YOU!!!! I love the mornings. The sun rising slowly up to start the new day, the birds coming to life, squwaking their morning greetings to each other across the treetops, the ducks flying down, skimming across the water as they land and try and wrestle the bread away from the fish, the pelicans that drop by during the cooler winter months....I love it all!
Every morning I laugh at those ducks! We normally have some left over bread that needs chucking out and as soon as they see you walk onto the grass they take to the skies and the water is turned to a swishing mess as they come skimmering across the top and wait patiently for their feed. The only problem is that as soon as the bread touches the water the fish attack the stuff - all you can hear is the slurping sound of their mouths sucking it away like a vacuum cleaner. Now I have seen some of these fish when the water is a little clearer and they are not really of duck-eating size, but they scare the feathers off these birds! It is a daily tussle to see who can beat who and normally the fish win. The ducks wait for the smallest of scraps to wash up onto the shore before they waddle out of the water and then fight amongst themselves for the fishes left overs. When the pelicans are here - well then they stand NO chance! Those big bills are very quickly snapping at them to get out the way.
After my laugh at the expense of my feathered friends I take my thoughts back inside and catch up with friends and family across the world and new ones here on Orble. It`s great this whole internet thing isn`t it? How we can sit anywhere in the world and within an instant almost ANYTHING is at our fingertips, just the press of a few buttons and our questions can be answered. It is great! My sister and I have started this new game - discover a new word every day. Today I`m on the lookout for a doozy - something relating to love and giving and sharing I reckon will do the trick.
So today find a little time for yourself. Where is it that you go for your few minutes of peace and quiet? What is it that you like to do everyday - just for yourself? What rejuvenates your mind for the day?

HI Ash,

I love the mornings, but too busy usually to rest, therefore my favourite is sunset. Usually looking out across our lake too, in my little garden on the swing chair, or at the beach looking out over the butterfly-tipped, fluffy sky as it turns from pale blue to firely reds and oranges and finally deep mauves ... fading, finally into starlit obsidian darkness... which as a savant stargazer brings me to my other favourite time of day... which is night - and especially half moon to half moon, through full moon phases... magicall, mysterious and religious... it reminds me of petry and "what was all the jargon about business a few hours ago?"

The swirling dawn mists, the pre-sunset breezes and the night's coolness and nightshade fragrance are my favourite times of day and night and when I am glad I am alive... the rest is work - which I enjoy too, but for different reasons. Actually, it's all pretty special isn't it when you think about it...

thanks for allowing me the flight of fancy...
Nature is beautiful.

Ash,

Lovely Post.

So conversational.

I love this type of writing.

Great Questions.

Both in the title. And at the end.

I’ll answer them.

Favourite Time of Day?

Dusk. Always has been. Always will be. At the risk of offending certain people. There are three principal reasons I love Dusk. Infinite secondary ones.

(1) It was the time of day that God walked in the cool of the evening with Adam in a preternatural Paradise and spoke with him.

(2) Back in the days when I did physical labouring (before Adam was a boy), the elation at that time of day? Incomparable!

(3) DuskDevi is on Orble. And I think she Rocks. She thinks she Rucks and Rolls. I think she Rocks.

New Word? Relating to love and giving and sharing?

Incarnation. (Old word. Forgotten. Neglected).

At the risk of offending certain people again. Short Definition = God’s gift to man. = Himself.

The gift of Himself. (Encapsulates loving, giving, and sharing).

God I hate the word ‘encapsulate’. It’s so academically pretentious.

But I’m in a ‘cathartic’ mood.

Where do I go for a few minutes of peace and quiet?

I never go anywhere. I don’t have to. My room is a place of tranquillity and order. Peace is the tranquillity that comes from order. (I stole that from St Augustine). Why go anywhere? What is there outside of my room besides chaos and noise?

What do I like to do just for myself? Everyday?

Everything. I’m selfish. I’m trying to come to terms with my own humanity.

What rejuvenates my mind?

I am the eternal child. I don’t need my mind rejuvenated. I am a juvenile. And a delinquent to boot. Ask anyone on Orble who doesn’t know me.

And at the risk of offending you. Your writing is lovely. It would be even lovelier if you separated the text with a few more line breaks. I like to see lovely writing line-by-line.

Yours is lovely.

The crap a lot of others write on here? Condense it. Or delete it. I can’t read it.

Homer.

Hi Lilla,
Yeah the whole modify button drives me a little crazy too, I end up having to go back a few times and repost things because I cannot modify them - ah well, never mind.
That picture was actually taken at sunset. I had to rush off this morning to work and i could not find the one I wanted of sunrise. I will find it and post it this arvie.
Ahhhhhhhhh I can feel the relaxation coming over now - I agree sunrise and sunset are the best times of day and as for starry nights??? Well there is a reason why van Gogh chose to dedicate his time to painting such scenery - he himself is quoted as saying:

'we may succeed in creating a more exciting and comforting nature than we can discern with a single glimpse of reality' (Vincent van Gogh)

when once talking of painting and (using starry nights as his example) of expanding one`s imagination. Night time is also when a lot more people are creative so you are onto something there!
Have a sparkly day!

Hello Ash

My favourite time of day varies, sometimes like you, it's the morning and then other times it's early evening. I love the image of you feeding the ducks and then going home to Orble. I tend to walk to my pooch in the morning and then Orble afterwards, enjoying hearing what others have to say. I always seem to learn something from other people's blogs.

Homer,
Lovely of you to stop by. Thanks for your comment, I am only too happy to give you some topics of conversation, unless of course you are being derogatory in which case I may have to block you from further visits *wink wink, nudge nudge*

Dusk is a beautiful time of day - that change over from the garish light of waking hours to the dream time of the darker ones. The sky becomes a canvass and everyday a new masterpiece appears - what a great world we live in!

My new word for the day was ‘eleemosynary’, which basically means ‘charitable’. It looked like an interesting word and as most interesting words do, had a rather simple meaning.

You seem to be very 'cathartic' these days, ridding yourself of various little thoughts that have been bouncing around in your head. Good for you, it is a great exercise in healing. (I hate the word exercise - not for its meaning, but rather for its spelling!!! It is one I almost always have trouble remembering - to spell, that is, not to do!)

Are you selfish Homer?
Or just attention-seeking?

I believe there is a great difference between the two.

Selfish people

seldomly

admit that they are selfish,
that is the great about being selfish - you are unable to see your

own

selfishness.

Or do you just
enjoy stirring the waters a little and getting some reactions out of
the half-asleep world
you are surrounded by?

Perhaps your mind races so much that you like the challenge of
finding someone who will challenge you?

No, I don`t think
you are selfish,
perhaps you just like chaos a little more

than you think you do!!!!
Long live your eternal childhood -----nurture it and

let it grow -
we should all allow our inner
child
a little more freedom.

Thank you for your
compliments, I hope you
enjoy the space I have given these words. You are most welcome to stop

by at any time.

great to see you! I agree, except for the twitterings part. There is a beach down here on the Sunshine Coast where all the parrots roost every evening as the sun goes down and it would be great if they twittered. This bunch feel the need to SHOUT their news to one another at a deafening tone - there ain`t any pre sleep twitterings going on there, I think they must have opened the Bird Bar for trade!
Keep up the great works of art.

Hi Lilla,
I tried to look for the modify button but do not seem to have one - perhaps because this blog is not a domain one?! No idea, the way the computer is going today it is lucky that it is not being fed to the fish at this precise moment.

Homer,
Sorry to have posted your reply twice. I cannot find how to delete the darn thing so maybe if you just read the first one with your left eye closed, you can read the second one with your right eye closed. If they cross over after you have finished you know that there have been some discrepancies found along the way while they whizzed through Orbleland and a few more words either got flung off or attached themselves!!
Ciao

yeah its a great word Tracy, I had never seen nor heard of it before myself. The trick is to try and use it several times - when I said to it to my friend she told me to stop drinking so much wine!!! ha ha!

Twilight, morning or night, is my favorite hour. Generally, I have the treat of seeing them both. I'm a night owl, so I often don't go to sleep until after the sun rises and I wake before it sets. 'Tis the hour of the faeries, so it is said. I like to indulge in the possibilities. Twilight, dawn and dusk, is when the animals are most active and when Mother Nature seems to do her finest dance.
21. December 26th 2006 @ 22:00. Ash Says:
Hi Wendi,
Thanks for stopping by. I love the night when there is a bright moon in the sky - I`m not afraid to admit that I`m a little scared of the dark still!
I agree there night is full of possibilities. Mother Nature is a much better host than the multitudes we come across during the lighter hours.

ha ha I bet you make that tea last for as long as humanly possible! My mum once locked herself in the bathroom for some peace and quiet and the lock broke - she had to climb through the window to get out again! See you can`t get away from us kids - as the saying goes "Grandkids are Gods reward for not killing your own children".
