What is Beazely on????
September 12th 2006 12:03
Just after discovering this blogg site and deciding I would put my writing skills and ideas to practice. I figured I would right something of the major political topic in my part of the world currently, that being the Queensland Election.
Until I heard the latest utterances of Bomber Beazely. Just what was he thinking. What was he on? Had he been reading the Latham Diaries and had some weird flashback thing occur where he thought he was Mark Latham.
In case you missed it according to Bomber he is proposing something the Federal government has overlooked. The major chink in the wall of defence we have thrown up both physically and virtually round Australia since 9-11.
We haven't been stopping would-be terrorists, their recruits and followers at the airports, wharves and migration centres from where they may disembark. Just how would we stop them??? According to Bomber getting them to sign a declaration that they embrace "Australian values" is the way.
That's right folks terrorist all around the world are now shaking with fear. You can hear the jingling of the bombs strapped to their bodies as they tremble while waiting in-line to take out their visa knowing they will have to sign a pledge to Australian values.
I personally cannot wait to be at the Press conference where the newly elected prime Minister Kim "Bomber" Beazley presents to a waiting media throng a description of the first terrorist who turned away at the visa desk because they could not sign the pledge.
In some desperate attempt to take the high ground on a very dubious "Australian values" campaign the Federal government has been running along with a demonisation of Islamic people Beazley has really been reduced to just a laughing stock. Where did this idea coming from? Who is advising this man?

Showdown: Politics Vs Reality
I have to say I think your support for Kim Beazeley's scheme is an utter crock.
People should take on Australian values before they enter??? So.. if you went on a holiday to Bali would you sign a document saying that you subscribed to Indonesian values before you entered??? That, presumably, including the death sentences for most of the Bali Nine???
I know it's the bleeding obvious and everyone's saying it, but it's worth another burl: NO ONE KNOWS WHAT AUSTRALIAN VALUES ARE. THIS DEBATE IS RIDICULOUS. Not to mention xenophobic.
I mean.. has anyone asked the indigenous people what Australian values are?? Has Kim Beazeley??
