What Freud Really Thought of Women
Freud said that it is women who will evitably struggle to come to terms with their own ‘sexual maturity’ and ‘sexual pleasure’ because of their combined fixation with their own sexual organ and the male phallus. This is because an individuals fixation are always based on what they lack. As for women it is what determines her as women which is determined by what she lacks and that is phallus. I think Freud's preoccupation with this fixation-complex overrides how he feels about women. Like his own fixation with women, for example his wife, his mother and his daughters all in which he experienced extreme inner-conflict and fixation over.
