What does a girl have to?

I am trying to understand what it is that I mus do in order to get things done. There is a ton of help out there for poor people, and even more assistance for super smart students, and then there are rich people, who don't really need help but there is also have that thing where rich people hand down jobs and stuff to other rich people, just to keep it in the family. But what is a girl, from the eastside of Detroit, with low-middle class parents, a college education and nothing but confusion clouding her judgement supposed to do. Is there any hope? What about help? What am I supposed to do?
I have been to websites where people beg for money to pay off past debt, buy cars, help other poor people, whatever, and I can't do that. I can't ask for total strangers to pay off my school loans or to connect me with the right people so that I can schmooze my way into a top ranking position. What if I want to be one of the only black socialites, is there any possibility that I can be? I doubt it.
What happens to a dream deferred, does it turn into employment at some automotive plant or cubicle farm? Does it wander the streets of Detroit, until it reliquishes all expectations.
Leaving me falling into nothingness. And I'm sorry for that...but is it really inevitable?
