Whale Action - Martin Place - 19th October
October 14th 2009 09:23
A friend of mine, Matt, is a massive fish (and whale) expert and activist. He runs a large outdoor and indoor aquarium place and is university educated in all things marine. Not only does he sell his fish but he loves them. He believes in their well being and how we should all protect our oceans and marine neighbors, fish and mammals alike.
His passion and imagination has taken him to a new level and he is now working with Sea Shepherd in an attempt to bring an end to Japanese whaling. If funding was reached and new vessels to the Sea Shepherd fleet were obtained it could mean the saving of a species and a final end to Japanese whaling in the Antarctic and the rest of the world. This year, Sea Shepherd will be sending down 3 ships, with support from the community..
To do this and get the funding Matt and Sea Shepherd need YOUR help. Please assist me by making this article viral - send the link to everyone you know that is off or working in the city on the day. Matt has been working with a dedicated team to design, create and finally unveil and install a lifesize HARPOONED WHALE SCULPTURE in Martin Place this coming Monday the 19th. This thing is HUGE and the detail to it is astounding. It is a massive sculpture and will be unveiled at 8am Monday 19th in Martin Place Sydney.
Due to the graphic nature of the sculpture, it may be pulled from public display, so try to come down early if possible.. All donations of course, will go straight to the campaign to shut down the Japanese whaling fleet this summer..
Who or what is Sea Shepherd?
Established in 1977, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS) is an international non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organization. Their mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world's oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species.
Sea Shepherd uses innovative direct-action tactics to investigate, document, and take action when necessary to expose and confront illegal activities on the high seas. By safeguarding the biodiversity of our delicately-balanced ocean ecosystems, Sea Shepherd works to ensure their survival for future generations.
For more info on the amazing work that Sea Shepherd does for this planet and its aquatic inhabitants and to further their cause and perhaps make a donation please clickety click HERE
Well done Matt for adding to Sea Shepherds cause and I hope this has a huge impact and furthers the cause.
