Welcome True Brothers in Christ.

July 12th 2009 11:16
Over many months I have been trying to examine my relationship with Christ Jesus, and what I believe. Quite frankly I was shocked to discover what I thought I knew about Christ and his Word was very little. However during my research I have discovered not only did I know very little about my Lord and Savior, but that most of what I had been taught was flat out wrong.

I look forward to continuing my studies and sharing the experience of my journey with you and learning of your experiences if and when you reply to these post. So why is the blog called Heretic Hunters well I believe that much of what is commonly accepted in Christianity is false. Let me make one thing clear before I go any further I'm not hear to offend anyone or to discredit any one who is involved in religions that I do not agree with. Every statement that will be made in this blog will have factual basis behind it. i will support the statements made here with fact, Often times with there own literature. I will weigh and measure everything against the Kings James Version of the Bible.

Again some will agree and many will disagree but im ready for that. For Jesus said

Joh 15:18-19 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Mat 10:16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

Also I feel that God commands us to expose the evil in the world as it was stated in the book of Ephesians.

Eph 5 : 6-14 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light
For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth
Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.
But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

I hope as we move forward all of us will come to a better understanding of Christ and the sacrifice he made for us so that we can all live eternally with him and God the father.

I encourage all those who have concerns about there church and its teachings to ask questions. I will make a sincere effort as time allows to respond to all posts and If I cannot answer the question, I will try to provide you with information or a source in which you may get it. I think this is going to be very Eye opening to many and I look forward to the responses good or bad. Have a Blessed day, Your Brother In Christ Alex

Thanks for the reply. I hope the information presented here will be informative to all those that read it rather your atheist or not, I look forward to your insight. Most of those in the atheist camp tend to be able to point out the hypocrisy in religion and the contradictions. Please feel free to share and ask questions about anything that falls into this category.

I always appreciate being able to exchange views with people. In addition and this is for anyone please send any information that you feel is relevant to various topics or might be relevant to future topics.

Have a Blessed Day.

Just because someone doesn't agree with you, Alexander, doesn't mean they are the enemies of Jesus. It may be that you yourself are wrong. You do need to have that consideration before you

Can I also ask why you prefer to use a five hundred year old translation of the Bible? No one I know speaks seventeenth century English-unless we are doing Shakespeare of course-and in the Bible it says that the Common People heard Jesus gladly

Feel free to call me Alex. I don't recall calling anyone an enemy of Jesus, although I can think of a few groups in general that are. Let me say this. I think their have been alot of religions that misguide people with a touch of the truth. The devil quoted scripture to Jesus when he was being tempted. Anything that does not agree with the Bible is in error and of the world according to God, that's his rule not mine, I have the easy part I just have to obey his teaching. As far as Bible translation is concerned I prefer the KJV in the original however the new KJV from my study seems to be an accurate translation as well. Which Version of the Bible do you prefer? In addition I welcome you to share your faith here so we can discuss it, as I seem to recall you told me you were Orthodox. Is that correct?

If you look at the Bible verses you quote and read them in the context of what you have written, you imply that anyone not agreeing with you is an enemy of Christ, that is my point about that.

Yes you are correct in saying that I belong to what you in the west refer to as the Orthodox Church-visit Greece, Russia or Albania and we are just the Church. The translation I use is the Orthodox Study Bible, which as you may know uses the NKJV for its NT and translates the LXX for the OT. That means that we use the long canon of the OT and the books that were thrown out by both Protestants and to some extent Roman Catholics at the Reformation, are included in our OT. The reason we use the LXX is because it was used by Our Lord and is quoted extensively by the NT writers. We use the NKJV because it is based on what scholars call Textus Receptus (the Recieved Text) which was the Greek text of the NT used in the Church of Hagia Sophia in Constantinople before it was destryed by the Turks in 1453

Ok what I implied in my post was that some religions have it wrong, and that's one of the many topics that the blog was created for. In the main post I stated that my intention is not to offend, however I realize truth is sometimes painful to hear. Thank you for clarifying Greek Orthodox for me.

I remember now I made a comment on your blog about Catholics and how their beliefs didn't match the Bibles. I'm of the opinion not many people in various churches are aware there religion has little to do with Christ. I don't blame the people the blog is meant as a wake up call for some to do some research, To question the doctrines of their respective churches and to compare it to what Jesus said, again this was Christ instruction not mine. Thanks again for the post.

I'm not sure I have clarified Orthodoxy for you. The jurisdiction I belong to is the Russian one-though there is no doctrinal difference between any of the Orthodox jurisdictions, we are all in communion with one another..The best book on the subject in English is 'The Orthodox Church' by Timothy Ware-published by Penguin

.
On the matter of comparing things with what Jesus said, the problem seems to me is that we all approach things with certain pre-conceptions which influences the way we interpret certain things (I do apologise for the overuse of the word 'things' but I can't think of another synonym to replace it). In the Orthodox Church we have the Tradition of the Church to guide us. I am happy to discuss this with you sensibly. It does contrast with the Western Approach which seems to put the emphasis on what the individual thinks.
