Welcome to My Corner
July 24th 2008 10:50
I do lots of things and I think about lots of things. I probably live in a mental world that most people would find inexplicable or just plain boring.
My worst writing habit is the comma splice. I live in rural, high desert California, 100 miles and a culture gap away from Los Angeles, where I grew uip.
I live with my almost 84-year-old mother and my 54-year-old brother. And two dogs. And somewhere in the neighborhood of 25 cats, mostly indoor.
We live in rural territory. out on the dirt roads. Animals gets dumped out here. We don't need any more cats, but sometimes a cat needs us, and what are you going to do?
I plan to return online this fall to finish my degree in Technical Writing and Communications. I may follow that up with a law degree. I'll be 61 in five years. May as well be 61 and a lawyer as 61 and not.
I consider myself a spiritual being who happens to have chosen to also occupy a human body. I'm involved in many spiritual blogs and groups, and I get great value from them if they're rational and honest and not locked into the human melodrama, which I find incredibly boring. I am a human being, however. Whether I like it or not.
It's 3:30 am where I am, Thursday morning. The temperature is all the way down to 60F/16c. It feels incredibly good and it will be a nice night for sleeping. Of course, it'll be 102f/36c tomorrow. But we have the new air conditioner; I think I'll bake a cake.
Anyway, this blog will have comments on life, recipes, attitudes, beaitudes, and pleas for mercy It will be judgmental and cynical, and it will be crazy optimistic. It will be all the self indulgent things that everyone thinks blogs are. And they're right. It will have no more excuse for or right to exist than I have. And just as much.
