Some of us have an immense challenge with time. An imbalance in time allocation between our roles can cause major stress in work and in relationships. For example, the workaholic can neglect his family and personal wellness, an then wonder why his health and marriage fail. Often we are torn between others’ expectations and our own needs.
Sitting quietly, and honestly checking your priorities, is a mandatory 3 monthly task. Ask “What is most important to me?” and “What makes me the happiest?”
The answers may not be easy or simple to implement, though they can become glaringly obvious.
The clearer we are about roles, goals, values, needs, wants, principles and needed qualities, the easier this process becomes, and the more effective and fulfilling our time allocation can be.
Proactivity produces results; reactivity produces excuses, or explanations. We get one or the other, whichever we choose, and our willingness to accent reasons instead of results may be our best indicator of our reactivity. When we’re proactive, we see that reasons don’t gain us anything and we determine to be satisfied only with results – Stephen Covey
