Week 1 ~ Halo 3 ~ The Needler
August 26th 2010 04:36
Overview
A lot has changed about the needler since the good ol' days of Halo:CE, when you held the trigger till the clip was empty and the needles did the rest; now you actually have to aim. A bit. If your aim is always off just a bit, the needler is the weapon for you. The bolts will curve a slight amount to adjust for your almost-hits. The needler is still best used by emptying half or a full clip into your opponent, but you have to be looking almost directly at him. After about 7 or 8 hits, the needles all explode in a pink supercombine, blowing your target away. If a whole clip goes into the body, it might blow up another couple of times, so be aware: if your buddy beside you is pumped full of pink spikes, he might act like a live grenade. With ragdoll physics and armour.
Close Range
You'd better have hung on to that assualt rifle, soldier, cause yer gonna need it!
Mid Range
This is where the needler shines. Just point at your opponent's body and let 'er rip. If your sure every bolt hit, and your low on ammo, about half a clip will do the job, but if your aim is a little too crazy, you might want to just empty it.
Long Range
Kind of like the assault rifle, at long range firing the needler just allerts your enemy to your pressence. You'd be better off chucking nades, or trying to sneak closer. Or if the other guy is shooting you, "Run away!", as King Arthur would say.
The Summary
Doesn't matter if your aim is a little off, its one of the best mid range weapons, but one of the worst long range. You'll probably die if you use it too close, or too far, but get it just right, and your opponent won't know what hit him.
