About Me
Would like to see an Labor Movement and the ALP transformed by the kind of Catholic social and religious principles as found in the unambiguity of the Green Catechism.
A nation in which young and not so young can hear and learn about those principles for the Labor Movement and the ALP prior to Vatican II in which school children in our Catholic schools were taught about belonging and contributing unselfishly towards the betterment of Australia along patriotic lines with Labor and trade union principles based upon Catholic social teachings and good doctrine and moral teachings at the forefront, not watered down for any 'tribe' that is too evident today in the modern ALP.
Forget the Liberal Party as their principles are based too much upon the individual.

on Paul Keating

June 20th 2007 12:49
Aside from self absorbative aspects of many former politicla leaders I like some aspects of Paul Keating.
He wanted 15% of employer money to be paid as superannuation for employees. When the Liberals undr Howard won office , superannuation was capped at 9%. Singapore and other advanced nations ( economically that is, I have doubts about much that happens in Singapore) the level is around 20% .

Keating was correct about having legislated minimums for wages, conditions and allowing union officials to enter workplaces. Such legislation would remove the problems of the current AWAs that are hurting ordinary workers.
Now as far as Keating's deregualted economy ie exchange rate float, privatisations etc I disagree with him.
However, please note the bad aspects of this was Liberal policy and it amazes me that 'conservatives' ( read moneyed interest north folk should complain).
They enjoyed the free kick of the 'Labor' years.
Hence the need in Australia for an NCC/DLP revival.
If Family First Prots can have a small influence, how much more the 25% of the nation Catholics if educated along DLP lines.
