Your blogs traffic statistics software that you may use has some answers to how people are arriving at your blog, what keywords they use, right down to the browser they are using at the time of arrival. Knowing how to use this information to advance your blog is the tricky bit for most bloggers.
Over the next few days, I will go through some of the best tips I have learnt on my blogging journey so far, and these tips can help to dramatically improve your blogs traffic and so you know where it actually comes from and how to funnel that knowledge into excellent results for your blogs future.
For today I thought it would be good to link to an article I read on Problogger which goes through why obsessing over your stats can lead to... well not much getting done, and this is important to know when to analyze your stats and when to realize when to stop if it doesn't go to well in your favour.
Also this post helps with ten tips to do other stuff if checking your stats becomes too much of an obsession.

Blogging has become a workable business tool for online websites or on their own they serve to keep people entertained and informed quite often, so I thought I would go through the many passive incomes and residual income models you can have with a blog, blog network or a collection of different niche blogs.
First up...
Advertising
If you can set up advertising from an ad network you have the potential to build up earnings either per view or through clicks, adsense, Kontera, bidvertiser and a few others, offer this form of residual income and the higher your blogs traffic the better your earnings obviously will be.
Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate links, affiliated reviews and free reports that you give away with affiliate links inside it are all good and the standard for earning passively, again the more targeted and the more traffic you have the better your chances of earning residually could occur.
Advertising spots on your blog
You could have companies pay you to advertise their company websites on your blog, either in the form of a banner or text link and they pay you a set amount each month, this could build up over time as your blogs traffic and readership increases, so will your rates for advertising.
Backlinks an Articles
Yes you heard right, most residual income is brought about by the work you do beforehand in the form of backlinking and article marketing, the more you do of this, then the more traffic and earnings you gain in the long term.
Any other forms of residual income out there? I know there are some creative people out there who know especially here one! Orble

Blog marketing is a skill in itself and one that takes a little patience to get right, plus some good planning before you actually get don to some good old fashioned marketing, and by old fashioned then that's not quite true as social promotion in web 2.0 is something that is becoming increasingly useful in any marketing medium or marketing social circles.
Marketing your blog takes it down to a level of aggressiveness at times for some, others have a sense of fun in their marketing by interacting with other bloggers in their niche, marketing your blog is just about making business contacts and associates and friends along the way.
Obviously the right way of blogging does not involve spamming your blog links here there and everywhere and the respect of other bloggers also comes into your marketing plan to.
Helping other bloggers by linking to some of their blog posts and rating a post by giving an insightful comment is a much appreciated part of network marketing that is very strong and has been since the days of the old forums and even myspace.
Problogger has lots of tips about the promotion and marketing of your blog and Problogger has a book out on the subject, which I have reviewed

Easy ways and some that take a little effort are all effective, but what is your preferred method?
Starting out in the online world of blogging can be quite daunting to some especially if you are not used to writing for others who will and should find your blog, but after a few posts you should get into the swing of things and understand what it's all about with blogging

I gave in awhile ago and created another fantasy art blog, because I like the area of fantasy art creation, but also I want to create an online fantasy art network of artists, so I start off small and build a network of other fantasy artists.

Sometimes being crazy and extreme could be the way to go on your blog, but other times being very helpful and informative could also be the best option, but what are the different posting formats that you could use on your blog?
News posts - These are the informative blog posts that could take an objective view on your subject matter and take it to the factual level that you need, a product review of a new product or service for example is one way of providing a news blog post

Over the time I have been blogging I have often found that the inclusion of images far outweigh what I expected within a blog post they draw the reader in almost.
A visual is like seeing what the blog could be about, but it could be also cryptic in nature too, as the image could only loosely relate, but still be enough to catch the readers eye, in between posts the addition of an image or photo breaks up the posts that are full of text and just makes it read that much better

Blog posts that shine are the ones that are useful, entertaining, thought provoking and witty to coin a few phrases, but how do you gain a shining blog post that attracts readers or even comments for that matter?
Well there are many determining factors and not one of them are the same, but what it all comes down to is a plan of action being put into place from the outset

When blogging on a particular subject, it is always best to start as you mean to go on and by this I mean once you set something up it's best to narrow your focus on your blogs content more as each day passes.
It's so easy to go off on a tangent and try to be everything and the kitchen sink, I've done this in the past and sometimes I still have to pull myself back at times, by diluting your blogs focus you are setting yourself up for trouble along the way, not just with the search engines and the keyword paths you have already put in place, but you may lose readers when you try to be an every topic master on a broad range of subjects, as some of your readers only want to find out about the topics they subscribed to your blog for

Squidoo is one of the first ever sites I found online to help you build a web page, without knowing any html code to start with and I found it to be one of the most interesting and the best free sites to join, especially as I later found out more about online marketing and many other link building practices.
The importance of relevant content on the internet is vastly important to a website or blogs growth
