Water from the moon

Does anybody remember the Celine Dion song “Water from the moon”? The chorus went something like “Oh what have I got to do, do I gotta get water from the moon, to make you love me?” Well those of you who believed it was impossible are now actually one step closer to the impossibility of having that unrequited love actually return your feelings. After crashing a NASA rocket into the moon, scientists have discovered that there actually is water in the moon. Apart from being totally underwhelmed by that news, it got me to thinking that somebody out there now has a wonderful idea to exploit the gullible amongst us, by bringing a very expensive (expensive cos somebody’s gotta pay for it kids. Just dig a little deeper into your already empty pockets and see how much we can come up with) exotic drink onto the market…moon water! Somebody out there is going to become very very rich at the expense of those of us who are very very stupid. Since there are now more than enough stupid, gullible people on the planet, I’m sure we’ll have the water here soon enough.
Out of all of this, I am wondering, and I have heard it mentioned seriously, why would anybody need to export water from the moon? What is the problem with the water that’s here? Is there something that the rest of us need to be aware of? Is potable water in such short supply that it now needs to come from elsewhere other than the earth? I understand that there is only so much water to go around and we’ve done a pretty good job of polluting what we have, but yet it always amazes me that some people still refuse to drink “recycled” water that was at one point from the toilet or some other place, when in fact, all of our water is recycled from somewhere.
So, since no new water is actually being created here on earth so what are planning to do? Go ransack another planet for their water! That makes sense doesn’t it? Thank God we’re not more highly evolved otherwise we’d be out in space fighting with other species for their precious lot as well.
Just goes to show that even if water from the moon could make someone love us it ain’t gonna make us any smarter. Just greedier.
