Waking Up is Cruelty!
December 29th 2006 00:35
Trying not to curse and swear as this body attempts to type something coherent! I l love my three young boys and sometimes the night wake up calls don't help! This morning this body feels like a Mack Truck that has a flat wheel, trying to pull a fully loaded trailer! Even my coffee has gone trice and warming it up in the microwave just isn't the same.
Motivation - exercise! Are you serious? Some days it’s hard to get out of bed....
The alarm goes off, rolling over you are tempted to throw that annoying clock off the bedside table. You slowly open your eyes and see light starting to come into the bedroom. Is it that early already? I am afraid it is - after stretching you slowly move your body to a sitting position.
After you manage to get to your feet and do the morning rituals of getting ready to do some exercise, you still question your sanity for getting up this early.
After you are dressed with the tracksuit and sneakers on, you grab the house keys and open the front door. At least it is not raining - not to cold either, winter isn't here yet.
After you look around for a while you realise that it’s early and going to be a nice sunny day. The ground is covered in dew and the sun is making the plants cast their shadows around the park.
OK - another day, another mile or two. You cannot understand people who love to run as you are flat out going for a brisk walk. People jog by you and you smile or wave. There is something relaxing about sharing this morning walk with others. You are not the only one who has to get out of bed.
As you walk around and feel the fresh air, your body comes alive and you even feel the stirrings of hunger. After you have completed your walk, you go home and take an invigorating shower. The jets of warm water help relax you and make you refreshed for the day.
Getting dressed, you are now awake and feel good that you got out of bed early. Breakfast even looks good - and since you started this routine of exercising before breakfast you have managed to lose some weight. One major benefit is the increase in energy levels to what you used to have at work for the day ahead.
Now awake and ready to go out the door, you know that despite the headaches of getting up early and going for a walk, your health is much better than it used to be.
Ok, so now the tribe of hungry children are fed, I have a coffee that is not cold. I have to get organised with my priorities for the day. When all I feel like doing is stopping and relaxing. Some people say I will burn myself out - working through three pregnancies and resuming work less than two weeks later on each, you could say that
Yes, it's hard to get up some mornings, I really wouldn't have it any other way!
So what do you do on those mornign s when getting up is pure cruelty?
