Confusion:
It's a bit like walking into a room full of people and they are all wearing party hats. You know it's not anyone's birthday, and when you ask them why they are wearing the hats, they reply, "Why wouldn't we be??"...like there's something wrong with you for asking.
Friendship:
Looking into someone else's eyes and seeing a reflection of yourself there...deciding it's okay to trust them...and then finding out you were right.
Love:
Love is not an emotion. It is wrong to assume it is. Emotions are fleeting. They come and go...Love is a committment to continue loving someone despite their best efforts to make you stop.
Degree required jobs that don't need a degree to be done:
Experience without a degree is better than a degree without experience.
Fear:
Embrace it, die old.
Children:
Children are the embodiment of everything that is inherently wrong with you or your spouse. Whatever you dislike about their habits, etc...take a goooooood long hard look in the mirror...or at your spouse. Yeah, forget that other thing...blame it on your spouse.
Music:
Just vogue.
Music:
Music provides a backdrop, a sounding board, time travel, a fountain of youth in our lives. Someone else can scream, cry, say the things we want to say without our having to say it. It tells us we are not alone, we are not experiencing anything new.
There was another person, maybe in another time and place, that felt the same thing. When you find that perfect song...you know...you consider...and then you move on past it.
For the rest of your life...that song will be the song that takes you back to the time and place when you felt whatever it was, too.
Sex:
The best reminder...of why you had children.
Parenting:
The only time other people can tell you what to do and when to do it...without pay, and you don't mind. Most of the time.
Growing Up:
Don't. Highly overrated.
Dreams:
The beauty of dreams is that most of the time, they don't come true. It is a pleasant distraction from the task of life, at hand.
Addiction:
The only time you will be immortal...until you die from it.
Erotica:
The ability to conjure up a sexual image without sexual words.
Taking things the wrong way:
If someone can take something you are about to say two ways, then don't say it...whatever you do.
Opinions:
Have one...for everything. Stand for something, fall for nothing.
Trust:
Trusting people will turn an optimist into a pessimist.
Organized Religion:
Believing in man more than you do God.
Family Relationships:
Children DO come with instruction manuals...look at what went wrong in your family...and do the opposite.
