Viva Laughlin

Not sure about this show. I love Viva Blackpool, and I know that Viva Laughlin is based on it, but I don't get it. VL is not... something, genuine? clever? well-acted? something. Maybe people singing along with songs is just better when british people do it.
It's neat that they got Hugh Jackman and Melanie Griffith to do it, but are they going to be around that often? It seems that maybe Griffith's character may, but I don't see Jackman there that much. We'll see.
Not quite sure why I turned this on, other than the Viva Blackpool connection. I heard the review on NPR today, and whats-his-name said that VL fell flat. I am tending to agree at this point.
maybe it would be better with more singing, but not just singing over music, or just scratch the singing all together. As the actors seem a bit pained singing for the most part. The latter may be better, but then I don't know why the show would need to exist at all. It's a pretty lame murder mystery. If the main character, Ripley, killed the guy, why would he leave the body in his own office? But that seems to be what makes the detective guy say, "he's suspect one." dumb.
