Victorian Star No.1 - Celtic Striker Scott McDonald

June 4th 2008 07:20
Born in Melbourne & raised in the quality outer-eastern suburb of Doveton, home of the White Eagles, in 1983 , Scott McDonald has shown all of the qualities that a Victorian naturally possesses - briliance, ability, level-headedness and the one thing that makes us superior from the rest of Australia - determination.

McDonald was signed by Southampton after an impressive showing at the 1999 Under 17 world cup in New Zealand and made his Southampton debut at 18 in the League Cup at Brighton, winning man-of-the-match in a 3-0 win (what else would you expect from a Victorian). Sadly a Ranga (Gordon Strachan) took control of the club not long after and gave showed McDonald the door (showing what a great manager he is).

Scott was forced to bum around, plying his trade in the lower leagues before Terry Butcher gave him a go at Motherwell and the rest is history. McDonald scored 45 goals in 125 starts including giving Gordon Strachan a kick in the nuts by scoring twice in his final game for Motherwell to deny Celtic the Scottish Premier league title.Celtic outbid their Protestant arch-rivals Rangers for his services and McDonald stuck it right up that flog Strachan by becoming Celtic's most important attacking threat, scoring 31 goals from 48 appearances, a phenomenal strike rate.

Even the giants of world football, AC Milan learned the hard way about the power of a Victorian after McDonald scored the winner against them in last season's Champions League. Milan immediately desptached scouts all over the world looking for Victorians to fill their team for next season.

McDonald will be a key member of the Australian World Cup campaign in June and July after that dickhead Frank Farina never gave him a go and Pim Verbeek has seen the light and knows that the more Victorians he has in his Socceroo line-up, the better the national team will go.

To add to McDonald's quality, he rejected numerous advances from Scotland, knowing that being a Victorian, he couldn't lower himself from the lofty standards that his birth automatically gave him, that of being a Victorian.

Scott McDonald - what a star......and he's a Victorian!!!
