Ok, I'm a new blogger so please be patient with my mistakes as I get used to this.
Lets start from Launceston airport, turn R heading out of the carpark and your only about 10k's from 'Lonny'.
One thing you need to know about Tasmania is that there isn't the competiton which exists on the mainland and because of this the standard of food, hygiene and service can be dissapointing....but.... dont give up on me yet. Tassie does have some wonderful cullinary experiences to be had and for a light, fresh and satisfying lunch (with a choice of truly rich and satisfying options), head to the Stillwater.(Paterson St Launceston)This place consistently serves up a beautiful meal. The service is impeccable, the ambience is lively but if you get a nice table along the window looking out at the river you also have a feeing of being totally relaxed to enjoy your meal. If your a visitor and have a day of sightseeing ahead I suggest you have one of their delicious wraps, sounds ordinary but believe me there is nothing tired or plain about them. Try the lamb, or the chicken yummmmm!

I could go on more about this place but I dont have the menu infront of me, sorry about that, Ive been here several times, the prices are good , I think the most expensive main is about $22, but it was not only the meal but the small things that make this place so refreshing, like arriving early and seeing the wait staff polishing the glassware, holding them up to the light to make sure they were crystal clear and having a laugh amongst themselves. There was a nice comraderie amongst the staff, you had the sense that it was not only a great place to eat but also a fun place to work. If you have ever worked in a cafe or restaurant you know how much more pleasant the job can be if your part of a good team. The place fills up quickly at lunch time, if your early you'll probably get a seat but it pays to book in advance.

They have a good wine selection and its not just lunch that you'll get here. I thnk it would be a wonderful place to go for dinner.

Up stairs is a colourful delicatessen with local and imported produce, my cousin and had a lovely time tasting cheeses and the staff were incredibly friendly and candid, it all adds to the experience. There is also a gallery and here you will find local art, crafts as well as some luxury skin products.
Parking can be tricky as the carpark fills up, but you might sneak a place around the back or along Paterson St.

Hi, after living and working in Tassie, and originally coming from Sydney, I have discovered some wonderful and not so wonderful places to eat. This blog will give m opinion on some of the best and worst eating and travelling experiences I have had across his beautiful island state. I hope you enjoy my adventures. Bon Apetit!
